Hello Splinter warriors!

Well, the first season of Survival mode has ended and I hope those of you who played this mode have really enjoyed this newly launched gameplay mode. If you don't know, survival mode is a new gameplay format in splinterlands that allows players to use every card within their collection. So, the players with a good card collection will gain advantage in this gameplay. Now, there may be many questions arising with this survival format and in this post, let us talk about all the important features and points to understand this mode better. So, if you are interested, let’s jump right in without further ado.

Cards are Battle Energy

Unlike wild or modern format where players have a limited energy bar, in Survival mode, no energy is required to battle. Because in this format, the overall card collection is the real energy bar and players can battle as much as they are able or until all their card stays active. When a card gets defeated in a Survival mode battle, it will not be usable again until it is revived after a certain period of time. Cards when gets defeated and enters in cooldown mode cannot be listed for rent or played in modern, wild, brawls or tournaments, or even used on land.

Flag/Unflag your Cards

Now, if you are willing to play Survival mode with other formats like Modern or Wild, Brawls etc as well, you should learn about the flagging feature in cards for survival mode. After survival mode is released, all cards in a player’s collection are by default automatically flagged for survival mode and you can see it easily see a card’s flag status in that’s card’s stats page. Now if survival mode is not played with a certain card, the flag will have no impact on cooldown, transferability or utility at all. While playing, if you choose not to use some cards in survival mode. You can unflag those cards for survival mode by clicking the ‘Disable all cards’ from Survival mode button on the in-game items page. On the other hand, you can also use the filters to select a group or set of cards and unflag or flag them according to your wish. You can also flag or unflag individual cards for survival mode according to your plan by simply clicking the survival mode icon for each of them on the item details page.

Utilise Sets

When playing Survival mode, you can also create custom sets to group between various playing decks and flag or unflag them according to your usability in this mode.

Another great feature is the newly added Filters in Survival mode Items page, where you can easily browse and manage your Splinterlands cards for Survival mode. These three new filters was recently added to the collection screen to help you manage tour card collections.

  • Survival Mode Enabled - This option will display every card which are currently flagged for survival mode.

  • Survival Mode Disabled - This option will display every card, which are not currently flagged for survival mode.

  • Survival Mode Cooldown - This option will display every card, which are currently on survival mode cooldown.

Rental

With a recent DAO Proposal that was passed, all rentals are now seasonal only. So, you can only use seasonal rented cards now in Survival or in any other mode. For Survival mode, card rental cooldowns will reset at the end of each season.

Card Level

You can choose the level of cards to be used in survival mode. For that, you have to use the new level drop-down filter to select the level of your cards. Just be sure to apply Summoner Unit Restrictions.

View Opponent’s lineup

While in a battle, you can view your opponent's previously played teams in survival mode and it will help you to build better lineups.

Draws in Survival

In survival mode, auto draws happens generally when exactly the same lineup is played by both the players including summoners and monster units. But in certain draws where both the teams are different and the final cards played by both teams ultimately dies, then both team’s summoners stays alive.

Surrender

If you choose to surrender in a Survival Match, one random unit and one random summoner from your card collection will go on a cooldown for survival mode. Surrenders can be identified by the red exclamation point displayed before your lineup on the match history screen.

Resurrected cards

For cards that get resurrected in a survival mode and then survive until the end of the match count as alive. So if one or multiple cards of your lineup dies, gets resurrected and then survives until the end of the battle, they will be considered alive and will not be selected on survival mode cooldown.

Cooldown Reset

One of the main questions that arise when it comes to survival mode is that how long does it take for different cards to come off of cooldown mode in survival mode? Well, all cards have their own cooldown resets according to the chart below and at the End of Season.

On the chart shared above, you can view the details for different cards to come out of cooldown. Also, the amount of time left for cards on survival mode cooldown can easily be checked simply by hovering the mouse pointer over the survival mode icon on the card details screen.

Revival Potions

Revival potions are specially made for Survival mode and this potion will allow players to immediately reset the cooldown of a card, in case it is defeated in survival mode. However, Revival potions are not yet launched and they will be released at a later date (not announced yet) and will not be a part of the initial launch of Survival Mode.

Reward Pool

Survival mode will also have an SPS reward pool of the same size like in Wild or Modern format. The reward distribution will work in exactly the same way as the what we see in reward pools for Modern and Wild formats. That means that the amount of SPS you will win from the reward pool for each win in Survival mode based on the reward shares you would earn in that battle as compared to the total number of reward shares earned from all Survival mode battles over the past 15 days. The same calculations and modifiers/bonuses will apply to reward shares for Survival mode battles as for Modern and Wild battles. Please note that the Splinterlands will initially provide the SPS rewards and leaderboard rewards for Survival mode.

Survival Stats

You can easily view your Survival playing stats alongside your modern and wild stats within your player profile.
