REBELLION REWARDS OVERVIEW - DEATH SPLINTER

image.png

Finally its the last ride of the Rebellion reward cards collection. At first sight this collection added low to medium mana cards to the Splinter. These should boost the Splinter for most of the battle. One typical profile of this addition is most of them are cards with high endurance owing to their high health and armor on starting level.

BROKEN EARTH THUG

image.png

Death Splinter barely have any Opportunity attacker (although before this, there is Chaos Jailer coming from the Rebellion edition). But long before, Death Splinter use Opportunity by relying on Maggot (from the Untamed editions) which also cost 3 mana. But in comparison, Broker Earth Thug is much better version of Maggot. Not only its useable under the new Modern format, but also it excel in term of overall statistic. This could easily be seen on the level chart, where Broken Earth Thug have much better speed and health and even have extra armor.

But still with all lack, Maggot have its own superiority coming from its Scavenger which certainly a useful ability for fragile unit like these.

UJURAK BRAVE

image.png

Ujurak Brave is a pure Tanker card. It start at level 1 with nothing else than its thick armor and health. The level chart also show growth is focused on armor and health up to the final level. Unfortunately this card will have 2 (two) health drawback during level 4 and level 10. These drawback lead to Ujurak Brave a bit fallen behind on the higher leagues compared to other Tanker card. Starting from level 8, Ujurak Brave gained significant growth in melee damage, which should give better as attacker rather than staying behind as a punching bag.

Silence is a bonus for this card, but since Daigendark Hunter also possesed it, I would say this card would be the least preferred choice for that ability.

MERIPUT SLINGER

image.png

Meriput Slinger focus its role as a heavy suppressing artillery. Started with 3 damage on 7 mana with only 4 health make this card a typical glass canon. Fortunately Meriput Slinger still gained several health addition during its progression. In addition to its high damage output, this card also decorated Impede and Slow, a combination of speed debuff which could bog down your opponent initiative.

Reflection Shield and Redemption are nice to have ability. At least they could protect against Return Fire and when things go awry this glass cannon could deliver final blow using Redemption.

DARK ARBORIST

image.png

The main use of Dark Arborist is to have the Demoralize ability. Its a great alternatives for Bronze Leagues and with less mana compared to Disintegrator. The level chart show growth will be focused primarily on health. The 2 (two) additional abilities are focused on anti-magic. In conclusion Dark Arborist is a very balanced defender to counter against opponent with melee and magic formation.

ARACHNE WEAVER

image.png

Arachne Weaver start with the new ability, Corrupted Healing. This ability seemed to be a downgrade version of Triage due to max health reduction side effect. But the good side, this ability seemed to be applicable to entire position rather than the back line position only.

Starting with 2 magic damage for 5 mana is a great privilege. But the damage will be quickly diminished upon reaching higher leagues. Most of the growth will to to the endurance side, that is 4 (four) health addition and Scavenger ability. Poison ability in the final level have an inline theme with Corrupted Healing. The Poison ability is a better than having no damage upgrade at all.

GRIFZI

image.png

This will be the 1 mana card addition for the Death Splinter. Similar to other Splinter, this card have equal parameter with the rest, except that this card will have Sneak as its ability.

DEATH RANGER

image.png

Lastly the main Legendary card, and this one is also a Tanker card. Starting with 6 armor and 4 health with Void Armor, this could is a great substitute for Executioner Kraan. Unfortunately while most of Tanker ranged cards posses Close Range at initial level, Death Ranger will attain rather late on level 2. Level 3 provide +1 damage which good to leveling its damage output. The final level will grant Scavenger which felt questionable if this rewarding to pursue.

VERDICT

In my own opinion, I would declare these are the pecking order of the cards above from the best to the least and considering their specialization:

  1. Broken Earth Thug
  2. Meriput Slinger
  3. Ujurak Brave
  4. Arachne Weaver
  5. Death Ranger
  6. Grifzi
  7. Dark Arborist
