Brawl Report #120: A good personal result for brawl in a while

Splinterland Brawls are a guild event where you can earn merits and SPS. This post serves as a way for me to review how my fights went and as a reminder to sign up for the next brawl. I have missed brawls in the past and it hurts when Gladius cards can now be used in ranked battles using the soulbound summoners. 4 star brawls are rough as the teams tend to be stronger. I am still in the gold league gold foil matches and I did well this time around. I saw a lot of matches and was worried, but this round turned out quite well. I won a decent amount due to the free wins and I even won a few of my actual fights.

Brawl Result

I chose the gold foil modern Brawl and got 7 wins. There were 3 free wins in this match because three guilds didn't submit someone for a game. My rewards for the brawl were 4,810 merits and 65,43 SPS in the 4-star category. My guild ranked 6th place out of the 9 guilds there. I choose to take the gold foil modern brawl because my guild usually doesn't fill all their spots and I prefer to give my other guild members a chance at the brawls. After the jinx that was the last brawl, I am just glad to see so many wins. It's probably the best result that I have had in a while.

Brawl fights

There were 2 that I lost, 2 won due to surrender, and 2 that I won. So I included an idea of the match below and a few thoughts about it.

You can find the first match here. I won this match. I combined my shield tank with tank heal and repair. This allowed me to tank the damage and kill off my opponent.

You can find the second match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. He had the level and speed advantage over me. I couldn't do much as he destroyed my lineup before I could do much.

You can find the third match here. I lost this match because I took advantage of the ruleset and did not use any ranged monsters. My opponent used 3 ranged monsters and they all got counter damage.

You can find the fourth match here. I lost this match because my opponent had the stronger lineup. I think there was a chance of winning but the speed advantage hurts. I missed quite a few attacks and the thorns dealt quite a bit of damage to my melee monsters.

Conclusion

Doing 9 fights for 4,810 merits and 65,43 SPS is a good reward for the effort. I did quite well as I won a few fights by playing a good lineup. It is still hard to beat when there is a level disadvantage, but this is my best result in brawls in a while.
