Hello everyone, I am back with another weekly battle. This week we will be looking at one of the most commonly used cards (and it's a starter card so everyone has it!) in the lower leagues and its name is Diemonshark.
As per tradition, let's look at the card:
It's pretty clear why it's a powerhouse in the lower levels:
- Incredible stat value: Diemonshark has everything you want for the stats of a monster in just one body. Solid damage? Check. Good speed? Check. Durability? Check. With 6 armors and 8 HPs, it is arguably one of the best all-around tanks of the higher mana bracket. With its 4 speed, you are almost guaranteed to get at least 2 hits with it. Unless it is a very high mana match, it should be able to tank through 2 rounds and hit at round 2 before it goes down.
- Pair well with Kelya Frendul: A lot of players in the lower leagues play with a budget in mind. As Kelya is one of the starter summoners, and arguably one of the best among them, a card that can pair well with him has extra value. A level 4 Diemonshark under Kelya's command is an incredible 7 armor, 5 speed monster that hits like a truck and tanks very well.
- Two useful abilities: Trample and enrage are very useful in the lower levels. Trample is very likely to lead to an extra kill. Or really, just getting off one extra hit is just awesome. Enrage makes it so that a mixed attack team, like if the opponent mixes physical and magic, you will have a killing machine that hits back with extra sauce and perhaps trampled through for another high-damage hit. Diemonshark's only problem is a pure magic team that completely ignores its armor. Otherwise, he will take magic hit, get enraged, and strike back hard. His armor will be able to tank through physical and ranged while he is enraged. It's a perfect tank against a mixed attack team due to its abilities and armor/HP distribution.
Firstly, I will apologize for this rather one-sided match. I have played for a few hours and cannot find a very competitive match to showcase Diemonshark. This is the best I got.
As this was a match with the silenced summoner ruleset, I used the cheapest dragon summoner to get the most options for my monsters card selection. My plan going into this match was simple, I wanted to have the speed advantage over my opponent. The Diamond Dragon's Slow and Supply Runner's Swiftness give me a 2 speed advantage over my opponent. I was trying to find holes in my opponent's lineup; hence I used Deeplurker for its opportunity and Sea Stalker for its sniping. They should be able to take down any weakling in the backline of my opponent while my Diemonshark and Carnage Titan focused on the frontline. I put the Supply Runner at the very back because I was most happy to give up its 2 damage over other creatures of mine.
My opponent was likely going with a value-first roster. Wave Brood was there to absorb the damage while the rest of his team probably had the highest damage he could find among his cards. Djinn Oshannus was an excellent choice for the second slot. If I were going for a full magic team, it could tank a lot of hits after Diemonshark died. If I were not to run a full magic team, Diemonshark could tank a lot of hits. This way, both of them covered all the possible damage setups I could play.
But as you all could see, I out-leveled my opponent so it wasn't a fair match at all. With the overwhelming speed advantage, we entered round 2 like this:
It was pretty much a done deal by now but I just wanted to use this match to showcase what I said in my Diemonshark breakdown above. Firstly, my Diemonshark being half-damaged in both armor and HP made him an incredible killing machine as I explained above. A mixed damage team would turn your Diemonshark into a high damage monster that goes first in round 2.
My enraged Diemonshark now hit for 5, killed the opponent's Diemonshark, and trampled into the Djinn Oshannus for another 5. This was the best scenario of trample and enrage, as I explained above, and why Diemonshark is a beast in the lower levels.
There's no coming back for my opponent even if I didn't hit the "enraged trample" combo. It was merely an acceleration of our victory and we got it done with ease.
Again, not the most exciting match in the world but I think it showcased how to utilize Diemonshark and how it could dominate. Diemonshark is one of the best starter cards you will find and using it well can lead you to many victories.
I hope this post helps a lot of the newer players and thanks for the read. I will see you again in the next Weekly Battle Challenge.

Nice and solid lineup.
So sad there are so many low level bots in silver now.
On one hand it makes for some easy wins to get the SPS and points, on the other hand it dulls down the challenge.

Yes I agree. It's so hard to find a decent match to show for the challenge. Sometime I met players with leveled up cards but the rules didn't allow for Water so I cannot do the challenge either.
I can't complaint about the easy wins though.
