Hey there! I'm EMD012 and here's my one of my battles showcasing the featured monster for this week, Centaur.
INITIAL THOUGHTS
Centaur is a 4-Mana Ranged, Neutral Monster. It has the ability 'Snipe', which means it would attack the first Non-Melee Monster on the opponent's team.
I haven't really got the hang of ranged line-ups. I don't like how ranged monsters can't attack once in the frontline and I've lost quite a few matches because of that.
Snipe monsters are best used for the Explosive Weaponry ruleset, where they can maximize the Blast damage. I think that you should not use a Snipe monster on its own for a battle. Centaur is fairly low-mana so it would be good to pair him with other low-mana Snipe monsters such as Fire Beetle if using the Fire splinter, or Twisted Jester if using Death.
THE BATTLE
The battle that I will feature had the following ruleset:
League: Silver
Mana Cap: 42
Active Splinters: Fire, Water, Life, Death, Dragon
Aim True: melee and Ranged attacks always hit their target.
TEAM COMPOSITION
Lorna Shine
Lorna Shine gives the 'Divine Shield' ability to all monster, which means they will negate one instance of damage.
Silvershield Knight
Silvershield Knight is our frontline for this match-up. His health and armor makes him an average tank, but what's special about him is his 'Inspire' ability, which buffs the Melee attacks of my team.
Luminous Eagle
Luminous Eagle is our second Monster. With its 'Reach' and the Silvershield Knight buffing the Eagle's high base attack, it is able to dispatch enemy tanks easily.
Silvershield Assassin
Silvershield Assassin is a 'Sneak' monster with 'Double Strike'. Her job is to remove any backline supports from the opposing team.
Silvershield Sheriff
Silvershield Sheriff is the first of our 'Snipe' monsters. He has a high Ranged damage and high health, which is useful if ever my first three monsters fall.
Mantoid
Mantoid is the next 'Snipe' monster. It's high damage is great for this match-up
Centaur
Centaur is our last monster. It also has the ability 'Snipe'. The high damage of the trio ensures that sniped monsters can be easily defeated.
Looking back, I feel that it might have been a liability for my team to have 3 different targets to attack. The Knight and Eagle would attack head-on, the Assassin would attack the backline, while the Sheriff, Mantoid and Centaur would attack snipe targets.
The disadvantage to spreading out damage is sometimes, an opposing Monster is left to survive on low Health, and is able to attack more. Fortunately, my Monsters individually have high damage output so that might not be a problem.
BATTLE PROPER
My opponent fielded in a Ranged line-up using the new Life Summoner, General Sloan. This summoner buffs his team's Ranged attacks, because of this, his team also has a very high damage output. It's a good thing we have Lorna's Divine Shields to brush off one attack each.
Here's a few highlights of the match:
The Shieldbearer with his Taunt melts against my team.
My Silvershield Assassin makes short work of the Portal Spinner.
The Snipe trio dispatches the Venari Crystalsmith.
The Prismologist soon follows. If you can look at the Evangelist, you can see that she has 1 Health remaining. She was being sneak-attacked by the Assassin but survived. Now the Assassin is in the frontline which means the Evangelist won't be attacked anymore. Situations like this are the disadvantage of spreading out damage.
The Evangelist got sniped soon enough though. In this battle it did not really matter, but in other more closer matches, it may be enough of a difference.
Final blow!
FINAL THOUGHTS
A big factor of my win in this match was the speed of my team. When both line-ups are doing high damage, the first one to attack will have the advantage. In my case, both the Shieldbearer and the Portal Spinner weren't even able to attack.
Centaur wasn't really that much of a factor in this battle. In fact, if I would change something in this line-up, I would replace Centaur with another Sneak monster like a Feral Spirit.

Yeah, that rear monster lingering with 1 HP reamaining can be annoying lol. So it really helps if you team up Sneakers or Snipers together to focus fire on one monster. I agree that Centaur could have been replaced with a Sneaker -- since the two other Snipers are quite strong already. Cool, strong cards and battle assessment!
The current HiveBuzz proposal will expire in a few days.
