Tutorial: How to Buy Splinterlands Packs on Hive Engine

I've gotten this question twice in the last week (tagging you @omerremo as you asked me to!), and it's something I also struggled with when I started, so here's a quick step-by-step tutorial on how to buy Splinterlands packs on the secondary market.

First, a couple FAQs:

• Why buy on the secondary market? If we're in between sets (like we are now) there are no packs to purchase directly from the company.
• Why buy on Hive Engine vs inside Splitnerlands? It's not always necessary, but packs on Hive Engine may be cheaper than what you can find on the native marketplace. If the prices don't differ much, stick to the in-game marketplace and you can stop reading right here!

Step 1: Get funds to Hive Engine.

There are plenty of ways to do this, but the easiest is to send yourself some HIVE, which will appear in your Hive Wallet (visible in Hive Keychain) and then go to a Hive Engine frontend (e.g. I use TribalDEX), go to the wallet (i.e. https://tribaldex.com/wallet), click on Deposit, and then select "HIVE" from the list and deposit it from your Keychain into Hive Engine.

Once you do this and confirm the transaction with Keychain, you'll see your funds in Hive Engine.

Step 2: Find the packs you want to buy

Now go to https://tribaldex.com/tokens and, in the search box, type the type of pack you want. If you're not sure what it's called, or want to verify if you get to the right swap page, ask in the Discord and someone will help.

Step 3: Swap HIVE for packs

In this tutorial, I'll buy some Chaos Legion packs. I go to https://tribaldex.com/trade/CHAOS and tap on the asking price on the right to fill in the buy price I want to pay, then update the quantity (in this case I'm buying 10 packs), and then click the Buy button.

Going back to my wallet a few seconds later (https://tribaldex.com/wallet) I see the CHAOS tokens in the list.

Step 4: Transfer the packs in-game

Next, I go to our in-game inventory: https://splinterlands.com/user/inventory. From there I scroll down to "Chaos Legion Pack" and click on the hamburger menu (the three lines) on the right, then click on "Transfer".

This takes me to https://splinterlands.com/transfer/CHAOS, from which I can transfer the packs from Hive Engine into the game.

I click Transfer, confirm with Keychain, and a few moments later my packs arrive.

Step 5: Enjoy the packs!

For funsies, I opened the 10 packs and scored a Lily 😍
