Hello! This post is for the second entry of this week's Battle Mage Secrets, which is Shades of Gray. Shades of Gray is the newest ruleset added recently, and you could only use Neutral cards. For this post's battle, we have a Wild Bronze Tournament battle where there was Silenced Summoner ruleset. However, you cannot use Magic units due to another ruleset.

Silenced Summoners

Summoners do not give any buffs/debuffs or grant/use abilities.

  • Use your lowest cost and highest level summoner within this ruleset.

Silenced Summoners Ruleset is kind of similar to Back to Basics Ruleset, but this applies to only Summoners, while Back to Basics is only for Units. You would usually want to use Summoners without abilities, like the 2 mana summoners or Rebellion's dual element summoners, to take advantage of the ruleset. You could also use higher level Summoners when your low mana cost Summoners are underleveled.

Battle Info

Rank: Wild Bronze
Avaliable Type: Fire, Water, Life, Death
Mana: 31
Stampede: Trample will retrigger infinitely as long as the trampling unit keeps killing other units.
Lost Magic: Magic units may not be used in battle.
Silenced Summoners: Summoners do not give any buffs/debuffs or grant/use abilities.

In this battle, we have 3 rulesets as well as 31 mana limit, and Earth and Dragon is not available. Stampede would work with Possibilus the Wise, but Silenced Summoner does not allow that. We also cannot use Magic units, so units with high armor stat and Opportunity, Sneak, Thorns, Return Fire and others would be good.

My Lineup

Summoner: Ilthain. For the Summoner, I picked Ilthain. Silenced Summoner does not give +1 Speed and Return Fire to our units, but since it is an Epic Summoner, you could use level 3 Rare units in Bronze card level limit, where only Level 2 Rares are available usually.

First position: Uriel the Purifier. For the tank, I went with Uriel the Purifier. It costs a whopping 11 mana but it has 3 melee, 3 speed, 10 health and 6 armor. It also has 2 abilities which are Flying(25% more evade chance against Melee and Ranged units without Flying) and Recharge(Attacks once for every 2 rounds, and deal 3x damage). I mainly chose this unit to tank the attacks of enemy units, and try to evade some of the attacks by Flying.

Second position: Sunkai Harvester. At the second position, I went with Sunkai Harvester. It has Reach ability, so it could attack from the second position. It is a level 1 card so it is kind of underleveled and kind of weak for 4 mana, which could be a problem later during the battle.

Third position: Celestial Harpy. Thanks to Ilthain, Celestial Harpy is at level 3 where it has 2 melee attacks for only 2 mana. It also has Flying and Opportunity(Targets the lowest health unit on the enemy team), so it can attack from the back position.

Fourth position: Uraeus. Uraeus is a solid CL unit. For 3 mana, it has the Sneak ability that allows Uraeus to target the back unit of the enemy team even at the back position.

Fifth position: Stitch Leech. At the 5th position, I went with Stitch Leech to add another Sneak unit in my lineup. The stats are almost the same as Uraeus at Bronze level but it has 2 more health and 1 less armor.

Last position: Venari Crystalsmith. At the last, we have Venari Crystalsmith for the Tank Heal ability(Heals 1/3 of the First unit). However, it could be vulnerable to the enemy Sneak attacks at the Last Position.

Round 1

The enemy monsters were revealed and they went with Water team. Looking at their units, they also went with the similar Idea of having a lot of Sneak, Opportunity, Reach units at the back, and they had a Tank unit with Heal. Luckily Uriel the Purifier could deal heavy damage at once, so Heal would not be a huge problem.

After exchanging some blows, Opportunity attack from Celestial harpy took down Elven cutthroat, and Venari Crystalsmith and Uriel were damaged.

Round 2

Round 2 started and Venari Crystalsmith was taken down by the Sneak units of their team. Uriel's 9 melee damage took down their tank unit, while the Opportunity attack from Deeplurker took down Uraeus on my team. After some blows were exchanged, Deeplurker was down to 1 health, and Stitch Leech was down to 2.

Round 3

Stitch Leech from my team and Deeplurker from the enemy team both got taken down. But, Celestial Harpy was now at only 1 health.

Round 4

Sadly, Celestial Harpy was taken down by Pelacor Bandit with the same Flying ability and higher speed, making it unable to dodge its attack. Uriel's attack took down Tide Biter, however, and we both had 2 units left.

Round 5~7

They could not take down Sunkai Harvester by only 1 health during R5, and at the start of Round 6, Uriel with the faster speed took down Pelacor Bandit, making Uraeus to go at the Frist position, and therefore not targeting Sunkai Harvester, which meant that they cannot win. GG!

Thoughts about this battle

The Underleveled Sunkai Harvester, in fact, survived utill the end and it allowed me to win this game! Other then that, it was interesting to see 2 similar lineups with the different elements in this game.
