Gold Brawl! It’s exciting to battle in a new league, finding new strategies – a card that has been relatively useless in Silver, might be a gamechanger in Gold – so many things change. My Legendaries Lvl2 are suddenly not enough anymore – they need to be level 3 for that little, but important advantage.
laughcryemoticonthatdoesntexist ), Mantaroth, Yodin, Kitty and all those that make life difficult. In our League, you’d definitely win every brawl battle with those cards and a decent strategy (and you’re welcome to joins us and do so 😜 ). But as it is – middle class strategy!Luckily, in my Guild, we don’t face the big guys. You could call the GOAT Monsters the middle class – we don’t need the newest cards to rule the meta, it’s enough to have the bases covered. It’s rare to face Tofu (I recently read that @bravetofu loves to have his card be mentioned – so yeah, man, it’s so freaking OP it’s not even funny
What you’re looking at is one of my most hated rulesets – Aimless. Scattershot all over is a nailbiter, you never know. Taunt is useless, Snipe is useless – no idea what’s gonna be hit. And that’s the strategy of it – the Weaver.
The Arachne Weaver was introduced as an epic card with the new Rebellion Reward Cards. It has one of the most powerful healings – corrupted. 70% healing, but the max health is lowered by 1. It becomes a Scavenger at level 3, which is quite nice for Gold League.
Why is it so great for Scattershot? Because it heals all around. You don’t need to combine triage, heal, and tank heal to keep your team alive. One corrupted healer, and that’s it. To be honest, I didn’t realize how powerful the strategy was until this battle.
Now, the Line-Up
- The Coeurl Lurker – my favorite beast. Big attack, Dodge, Phase, speed, a lot of health. My favorite tank. It has Taunt, but that doesn’t matter here – Scatterhot, baby.
- Djinn Muirat – Giant killer! It’s a 99 Mana game, so probably all the enemy monsters will be 10 or above – giving the Muirat 6 Magic damage, a force to be reckon with. Also, magic reflect and Void armor – it eats mages for breakfast.
- The Queen of Crows – I only have it level 3, but it is already quite powerful. 12 LP, Close Range, and Headwinds – a beautiful beast.
- The protagonist of this poist – Arachne Weaver.
- Lira the Dark – Extra Speed! Snare – works well with scattershot, since it’s not focused on one enemy anymore (Scattershot beats Opportunity).
- Meriput Slinger – another reward card. Big damage, slows down the enemy at each hit (very useful in scattershot, hitting several targets!), and another slowing debuff for the enemy with the hypercreative name “slow”.
The opponent had a pretty dang awesome line-up, too – and they would’ve crushed me like a feather. I had a total of 51 LP (counting Muirats armor, since it’s void), the opponent 57. I had (after debuffs) 16 AP, the opponent 18 – not counting the Barbarians Enrage, nor discounting Iziar’s void. But they had only one Triage, and I had the Weaver.
Round 1 – The Weaver Awakens
As a start, somehow my first three range attacks go against Captain Katie and bring her down – which is a huge plus, since her 4 Magic damage is quite a disastrous force. My lurker hits the barbarian, which luckily doesn’t retaliate but “only” gets enraged and strikes by itself – the lurker is down to 4 LP. But here comes the Weaver and heals it up to 11 again. Yes, 70% heal, it’s a beast. A bit more of damage is exchanged, but nothing fundamental.
Round 2 - The Rise of Weaver
Lira comes first as always, but then comes the lurker – this time, the Barbarian retaliates, leaving the lurker with 2 LP! And it’s the Barbarians turn! And he misses, thanks to Dodge. Muirats Scattershot takes the Barbarian out, and that is really, really good for my team. What a beast… The Weaver heals the lurker up to 10LP and the Slinger to 4 LP – which helps it survive an attack by Renova with 1 LP. Weaver strikes again.
Round 3 - The Return of the Weaver
It still looks kind of even at the beginning. But the speed of my units is decisive. The Weaver heals them all up again, and a little luck with the Scattershots is welcomed as well. The Slinger survives with 1 LP AGAIN – it just keeps hanging in there, dealing damage, reducing speed.
Round 4 - The Revenge of the Weaver
The Lurker gives Iziar the final blow. At this point, it is decided. Even with the Martyr bonus, there’s just no way of bringing my team down.
So, I definitely spent too much time on bad puns and references. Anyhow, the next time there’s a Scattershot – the Weaver is waiting. Do you want to win a 750 SPS delegation? Answer the following questions in the comments:
