Hello @Holozing community, here comes a new Fan Art!
I've finally started mixing classes! No more sticking to ocean with ocean, light with light, and so on. Today, it's blue and white with yellow because as far as I know, there are no limitations to capturing different classes of Holos.
That's why, since I've already painted Zingu, I felt eager to paint his evolved form, Zinguini. But unlike Zingu, who was sweet and clumsy, Zinguini is a tough guy in my mind. What better way to combine this toughness with a cheerful and extroverted soul than with the light healer? Her inner energy should shine like the sun and be very spontaneous and playful. So, they have complementary personalities, and that seemed like an incredible idea to portray in this fan art.
-Step 1:
In the sketch, I had something very clear in mind: I wanted Zinguini to have a bodyguard-like pose or a serious demeanor, so I could start defining the personalities of the Holos. As I mentioned before, I wanted the light healer to have a free pose that showcased the dynamism of her joy.
-Step 2:
I laid down the base colors, giving the Healer a pink color treatment. However, later on, I realized that she lacked more contrast to make her stand out ahead of Zinguini.
-Step 3:
I continued working on detailing the Light Healer, focusing on her face and clothes. I shaded the contours of her face to sharpen her facial features and emphasized the separation of her hair. Additionally, I gradually removed the unnecessary lines from the sketch to clean up the painting, although I didn't aim for a very perfect result, but rather something visually appealing.
-Step 4:
Honestly, rendering Zinguini was quite easy because I had already separated each of his prominent elements into different layers. I simply had to press the "lock transparent pixels" option to avoid painting outside the selected areas. Then, I gently used a soft brush to paint and create the desired volume, ensuring that Zinguini didn't look too flat.
-Step 5:
With the help of the "soft light" and "multiply" blending modes, I emphasized the shadows to make the volume of the characters stand out more. Additionally, I created the texture of Zinguini's ice using the brush with random triangles, and then made minimal adjustments at the end to better define the ice crystals. As a last-minute touch-up, I added some highlights to the Light Healer to honor her category and also to emphasize the joy that I feel she brings to the Holozing world.
I will leave you a GIF with the whole process on it, so you can better appreciate the illustration process.
See you in a future post!
