Hello dear Holozing friends, I hope you're all doing well. Today I want to share with you a sculpture I've been working on all week. I chose Verdion, the green dragon associated with grass, to make it. I used five cans, which luckily were all green, so they were perfect. I used the aluminum from the cans, glue, scissors, rulers, and pliers, as well as paper and pencil to draw templates for cutting the aluminum. Here's a step-by-step explanation of the process; I hope you enjoy it.

Hola queridos amigos de Holozing, espero que se encuentren muy bien, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una escultura en la cual estuve trabajando toda la semana. Para hacerla elegí al personaje Verdion, el dragón de color verde asociado a la hierba, para hacerlo utilicé 5 latas, afortunadamente todas eran de color verde así que fue lo más adecuado para trabajar. Para hacerlo utilicé el aluminio de las latas, pegamento, tijeras, reglas y pinzas, también papel y lápiz para dibujar las plantillas que luego usaría para cortar el aluminio. Los dejo con el proceso explicado paso a paso, espero les guste.

PROCESS

I drew the templates in the easiest way to assemble, including the head, torso, limbs, and tail. After making the figure, I would add small details. As you can see, I used a total of 5 cans, which I cut with scissors until they became thin sheets of aluminum. On top of each of these sheets, especially on the green side, I glued each of the templates so that I could then remove each of the pieces.

Dibujé las plantillas del modo más fácil de armar, que incluyera la cabeza, el torso, las extremidades y la cola. Luego de hacer la figura agregaría pequeños detalles. Como pueden ver, utilicé un total de 5 latas, las cuales corté con una tijera hasta convertirlas en finas láminas de aluminio. Encima de cada una de ellas, especialmente por el lado de color verde, pegaré cada una de las plantillas para así luego sacar cada una de las piezas.

The top part of the head is made up of two pieces: the main top and the section that shows the nose and part of the mouth. So I'll start with the top. Each cut piece has tabs; glue is applied to these tabs to join the pieces together, and that's how the shape emerges.

LA parte superior de la cabeza esta conformada por dos piezas, la parte superior propiamente dicho y la parte que muestra la nariz y parte de su boca. Así que comienzo por la parte superior, cada pieza cortada tiene pestañas, en esas pestañas va colocado el pegamento para luego unir entre ellas cada pieza y así va saliendo la forma.

Next, I begin working on the lower part of the mouth, which also includes the neck area. I cut out the templates and glue them onto the aluminum, then use scissors to shape them according to the outline I'd already drawn. To ensure the glue adheres better, I hold each piece in place for a few minutes with precision tweezers!

Seguidamente comienzo a hacer la parte inferior de la boca que también incluye la parte del cuello. Corto las plantillas y las pego encima del aluminio, y con las tijeras le voy dando forma según el trazo que ya había dibujado. Para que la pega se adhiera mejor, cada pieza la sostengo por unos minutos con una pinza de precisión!

Then I started making the pieces for the torso. Each piece fits together, as I mentioned before, thanks to the tabs I drew. That's where I put the glue, let it dry for several minutes, and then join the pieces. Here I made the part where the arms go and the beginning of where the legs will go, and the tail will go at the back; that will be its base.

Después comencé a hacer las pieza spara el torso, cada pieza encaja como dije antes gracias a las pestañas que dibujé, ahí es donde pongo el pegamento, dejo secar por varios minutos y luego uno las piezas. Aquí hice la parte donde van los brazos y el inicio de donde irían las piernas y en la parte trasera iría la cola, sería su base.

Next, I begin shaping the limb piece. This is a bit more complicated because it needs to be shaped into a circle in a certain area so it can support the tail. But that's not a problem since I have small tweezers to hold it securely while the glue sets. After that, I cut out the tail piece and shape it with scissors, applying glue and attaching it by the tabs.

Después comienzo a moldear la pieza para la extremidades, esta es un poco más complicada ya que se debe dar forma círcular en cierta parte, para que pueda sostener la cola. Pero eso no es problema teniendo una pinza pequeña con la cual sujetar bien mientras el pegamento hace efecto. Luego de eso voy cortando la pieza de la cola y dándole forma con la tijera, y le voy poniendo pegamento y uniendo por las pestañas.

We've almost finished the sculpture; now we just need to make the limbs. I'll start by making the legs, using two small pieces joined together with glue. You can see the holes in the torso where the legs and arms will be attached. I'll make each arm in the same way and secure them with glue.

Ya tenemos casí la escultura completa, ahora solo falta hacer las extremidades, comienzo en primer lugar haciendo las piernas, con dos peizas pequeñas unidas entre ellas con pegamento. En el torso se pueden ver los agujeros donde irán colocadas tanto las piernas como los brazos. Así también hago cada uno de los brazos y con pegamento los voy asegurando.

Finally, I started adding small details that would make Verdion look better. First, I gave the head a longer, more pointed shape by adding another piece. After that, I added its small ears, which look like horns, and two pink flames sticking out from its head. I used a piece of the can that was a similar color to make those flames; as you can see, I made good use of the can colors. I painted its eyes with acrylic paint. I didn't use can pieces because they would have been too small. Then I added the upper white fangs, and finally, the flame at the tip of its tail.

Por último comienzo a agregar pequeños detalles pero que hara que Verdion luzca mejor, en primer lugar le doy una forma más alargada y puntigauda a la cabeza, agregando otra pieza. Después de eso sus pequeñas orejas que parecen cuernos, y también dos flamas de color rosa que sobre salen de su cabeza, aproveché la parte de la lata que tenía un color parecido para hacer esa parte, como pueden ver aproveché muy bien los colores de las latas. Pinté sus ojos con pintura acrílica, no los hcie con lata porque las piezas serían demasiado pequeñas, luego agregué los colmillos blancos superiores, para finalizar con la flama que también tiene en la punta de la cola.
