Thoughts on referral rewards and trading fees on the market

Holo everyone!

With the Starter Sale coming up I wanted to talk a little bit about referral rewards and trading fees and the thoughts and ideas behind them from the team of @holozing.

Let's get into referral rewards first.

Most gaming projects in this space use referral rewards as a form of marketing and growing the ecosystem so it's something we want to include in @holozing as well. We've decided on the rewards being 5% of what the referred accounts spend by purchasing starter packs and healers and future sales of the project directly.

This means that when you refer a player to Holozing and that player spends $20 to buy a starter pack, you'll receive 5% of that in Hive instantly.

Now the question on everyone's minds, which is something that can't be helped when using referral rewards, is what if I refer myself? I.e. create an alt account with my referral and purchase packs from there instead. As mentioned, that's something we can't really do much about, we are however trying to make things fair for everyone as much as we can.

This entails: we will be allowing current registered users up until the starter sale begins to set a referrer if they wish. As example:

image.png

This will allow some of you to be fair to those who may have let you know about our project to earn some extra Hive in case you decide to purchase packs or healers (if you don't remember you can always pick my username 🙂😇)

This feature will be temporary, just so registered users before the referral rewards are put in place, get the same advantages as future referrers and don't "lose out" by having been early.

To be able to create referral links later on we will have certain restrictions. For instance, we don't want people to go crazy on spamming ref links everywhere which can bring Holozing and Hive in a bad light on socials so we'll be enforcing that ref links can only be created if said account has purchased at least a pack or healer.

When referring accounts outside of Hive who may use different tokens/coins to purchase packs/healers we may have to ask you to register with such accounts to connect referrers to their rewards. We'll have to discuss this still if feasible but we may also offer options to offer the referral rewards in Hive or Zing instead if this option is preferred. We'll have to cross that bridge when we get there.

Aside from all that we have some cool ideas for referrers to be able to generate their own banners which may include things like their personal healer nft or favorite creature they own and account stats to be used for instance in post footers or websites/socials. I think that'll be pretty cool!

Trading fees

Okay so when you create nfts on hive-engine, you are able to set trading fees for them. How much they are, how much 3rd party marketplaces can earn, etc. The need for fees is important because it makes it harder and more expensive for manipulation such as washtrading to occur.

We've decided to set the fee to 3%, 1.5% going to @holozing and 1.5% going to 3rd party marketplaces. With our game focusing on the burning of zing eventually we have also decided that the fees we receive from items being traded using Zing rather than Hive will be burned while the Hive will be used similar to our other sources of income; towards development, maintenance and growth of the project and its ecosystem.

We think this'll be a nice incentive for players to be aware of, i.e. if they believe the project needs more funding they can choose to place items for trade using Hive and when they think it's doing well enough but want to burn some zing they can pick the zing markets to trade items with instead.

Keep in mind that this is only directed towards hive-engine, fees on other chains might be different.

Thanks for reading, feel free to let us know your thoughts regarding things mentioned in this post! There's probably still more details I've failed to mention here of certain things, we'll make sure to include some FAQ's and other info to the website once we get closer to these options being available and of course an official announcement post on @holozing when part of these features go live.

I am pretty sure you were the one who referred me or let me know about the project. Having an alt account make a dollar or two won’t make that much of a difference and I can’t see the point.

I will have to look into the third party nft economy and specifics as I have not found the reason to dig into that yet. Not sure that will effect me as much as I have shown myself to be a hoarder of crypto and digital assets loath to release them unless it is a good cause. Any excuse to learn more is a good excuse.

Seeing each of these updates and the things being considered and put in place is a real eye-opener. All the things that go into making this and other applications/games sure must keep you and the team busy.

ZING!

Yeah there's a lot of angles and things to take into consideration with every addition. Best to take your time and do it proper.

I think both the referral bonus and the trading fees are more than appropriate. The percentages are in line with other projects I am aware of.
Having a referral program is always a great way of attracting new people as mouth-to-mouth marketing is still one of the best!

Thanks for elaborating on these percentages! :D

With these marketing plans and concerns on the economy of the Holozing ecosystem, I would not be surprised if Holozing turns out to be the top game on Hive. Already, Holozing is ranking among Top 3 communities on Hive.

I mused about the referral rewards. It's a good inclusion. Many great projects on Hive has missed out of this great feature. 5% is decent.

On checking spam, the referrer account should stop earning referral benefits if it's not active for some set time in the Holozing ecosystem.

Tell us the wen of the Holozing pack sales?

That's a good idea but might not be so easy to implement, cause if they are aware of that they could just automate "activity".

We're working hard on getting the starter sale out ASAP.

Sadly, spamming ref links works great in crypto, so you'd hardly get rid of that once you launch a referral system. On the bright side, I believe the lack of referral marketing pushes Hive down; many people would promote it for a few bucks like they do for many crypto projects... So the 5% payback would definitely pay of if the game is at least as catchy as Splinterlands.

I like the idea to limit spam that those who promote the game to receive rewards from the refferal system must have assets of the game because the best promoters of any web 2 or web 3 game are always the players and not those who have no assets but just want to make money

I think the referral rewards are quite fair and also the fees. The idea to prevent Holozing users spamming ref links everywhere is a sound idea and will help keep things under control. Thanks for the info.

I like the NFT trading fees you are using. Not to invasive, but will add some value to you and the marketplaces.

Well, the information seems pretty clear to me at the moment. I am very much looking forward to the launch of the game. To be frank, I haven't participated in video games for a long time, and for sure, this will be the first time I get involved in one with the characteristics that are envisioned. I feel like someone walking into a windowless room with my eyes closed, with the directions so far received. Don't get me wrong. I congratulate you for the great work you have been doing, as I feel, it is not for lack of information, on the contrary, I judge that the information provided has been excellent. Maybe it is that I am too rusty for this, but still, I want to participate in Holozing.

Thanks for the update to prepare us for the big event.

The world of blockchain gaming is fairly new to me so experience with referal links and trading fees I have fairly little to none.
Very curious to see how your mapped out path will work out for Holozing.
But it is clear that you have thought about it carefully.
We will see if it is the right way but you have my support.

This is rather timely, only yesterday I was asked by someone who I had mentioned HoloZing to , for my referral link.

The topic had never crossed my mind, I don't think I have ever used one before, but it did prompt me to go looking and realise that there isn't one...lol!!1

Wow, this is a great way for referral to avoid spamming the ecosystem. And receiving 5% for referral rewards is encouraging. Thank you for sharing with us. I like Holozing

  1. I think referral system should be free and don't be constrained with rules and regulations, in the end the money goes to your account even if it was done by self-referring using any other account. Just keep it simple, but if you still want to hook something for a referral link, buying a pack and getting the link to share with other users looks okay to me.

  2. Hive is a fee-less chain, bringing fee into trading or creating NFTs seems a bit off the attitude of Hive blockchain. Many users say it good or great, but most normal users won't like it to pay fee on Hive. The situation with other chains is different they already have a fee based system. So, act carefully when making a fee based structure, it would only be a hurdle for new users to join the game.

Most nft's on hive-engine have fees, without fees I could pretend an nft was sold thousand times over and over by buying it on alt accounst and increasing the price each time attempting to trick newbies that it's valuable to get them to buy it at 1000% premium, etc. That's washtrading and why it's important to not make it possible.

I don't think so it is the case, if it would be then Splinterlands NFTs would have a cost of a fortune. But, anyway that was my though, I shared with you and hope you have many more like this, but as for I feel that it may be good for new users to have a fee-less structure. Thanks

I'm pretty sure splinterland nfts also have a market fee, that's how/why secondary marketplaces like peakmonsters can operate and make some hive to continue running. I'm not 100% sure, though but it's common practice to avoid washtrading.

That fee is only for placing an NFT in the market, for sale and rent out, which is quite nominal around 1 DEC and there are no other charges when placing an order to buy or rent.

Truthfully the ref bonus seems to be the standard play for getting other people into the project, but will have to see if this works out as a project and investment

I must say that I am really impressed with all the deliberate thoughtfulness you are putting into the project... and it gives me a lot of confidence that you are building something that will become a lasting presence, not just as part of Hive, but in its own right.

Referral fees are a good thing as long as the rewards remain contingent on the person(s) being referred actually participating. One of the issues with many referral programs tends to be that they can create a huge number of "dead" accounts that only ever take one action: Signing up.

I don't know what the technical end would take, but perhaps on way to increase referree participation would be for the HoloZing infrastructure to include what no other Hive dAPP effectively has: Effective internal messaging. If I can refer someone, know they have signed up with my referral code, and then be able to contact them "in game" to encourage them to get further involved and/or just help, that might be a great feature.

Anyway, keep up the good stuff!

=^..^=

Good ideas, maybe we can make use of sting chat in the game since everyone will be required to have a hive account in one way or another connected.

You, of course, are my referrer 😊

I'm not crazy, right? That feature isn't live on the website yet? I don't see it anyway.

No not yet, we'll ann it on @holozing when it is.

This is actually pretty nice of you guys to do. If I remember correctly I only knew about this project because I follow you, so even if you said that as a joke, I'll probably nominate you as my referrer haha.

As for the trading fees, those are understandable. I really like the dynamic of how you approached the two tokens. It kinds of reminded me about the SPL credits, where credit purchases go directly to the team.

It reminds me of the BSC games where they win by referring friends and create multi-accounts that they can't control and things end badly.

But I know Holozing will be different, of that I am VERY SURE.

I think this idea of referral is good because this way we can get more users and 5% is a decent %age of reward..

Your trading fee structure, with its split between development and marketplace incentives, alongside the innovative use of Zing for burning, demonstrates a nuanced understanding of market dynamics.

Great effort you are doing @acidyo

This is a really interesting. It seems like Holozing is taking a lot of care to ensure fairness and prevent abuse of the referral system. The requirement to purchase a pack or healer in order to create a referral link is an interesting approach.
It's interesting to see how @holozing is thinking about both the financial needs of the project and the players' freedom of choice. It seems like they're trying to strike a balance between the two.

All the best with Holozing, I'm not much of a gamer the. I play a bit of FIFA with my son that's about it

All the best with it though, I just read most of the white paper and it sounds like a great prospect.

As a non gamer, would there be much potential upside for someone passive like me who wouldn't play the game.

Is there an advantage to getting in early too?

It's hard to say but so far those who've been delegating haven't had a day they've been "at a loss" yet, of course this doesn't mean those days won't come but who knows. We do intend to stick to one token mainly and generate ways people have to burn zing to progress within the game and have fun doing it.

For a gaming project on web3 platform, referal is an important factor for growth, as I played and seen in splinterlands and some other games which has a referal system that works great and of course without hurting the economy. Only 5% of what the referred accounts has spend by purchasing starter packs and healers and future sales of the project (certainly not on their daily rewards generated) is a good move to distribute a little portion of rewards to the ones those bring new gamers into the world of holozing! I also feel the trading fee for those NFTs are reasonale and fair and with 1.5% going to 3rd party marketplaces, I would like to see some new marketplaces to emerge who gives good offers on NFT buying like monstermarket.

So if I create an account for my daughter, and then give her all the Zing to buy the starter packs, will Referral still be applicable ? Or can I delegate Zing to her may be ?

If she hasn't registered yet and enters the website using your referral link then yes you will receive 5% of her purchases.

I'm curious why people send Hive to "hive-engine"...

kind of a funny question considering your username :D

They send Hive to "hive-engine" to get back Electronic Pocket Change...???

it's a decentralized exchange, they use a second layer hive token there called swap.hive

I never see anyone getting back something in exchange...

https://hiveblocks.com/@honey-swap

this is their official account afaik where hive of customers is stored

although I realize now your username doesn't say exchange

I wouldn't give referral fees for referring any accounts currently collecting or staking Zing. Consider those accounts already referred by holozing and use the 5% to improve the economy of the game for all.

Did I understand correctly, the $20 starter pack was a small spoiler?

I've mentioned it many times in comments, etc, but it hasn't been a for certain thing yet, we'll be announcing it on the official account soon.

Sounds reasonable to me! Thanks for the update!

The referral rewards is really great and fair and this will really attractive more users to join in.

This is awesome and attractive, by this method the whole world will hear and participate @holozing community soonest.

Wow!! This is so awesome, one can easily receive rewards by referring others to play the game, and sure this will help a lot and bring in more gamers.

Hello, it will be great to earn 5% for referring a user, nice post.👍👍👍

The idea of referral is something innovative and fruitful for hivers.
The fee is also reasonable.

Sound good and fair to me
