I crocheted this blanket in 2018, and it took me nine months to finish. I made it as a hobby because I always wanted a crochet blanket. Since I couldn't afford one, I decided to learn to crochet so I could make it exactly the way I wanted.
In 2018, I learned to crochet through beginner tutorials on YouTube. I knew absolutely nothing—not even how to attach the yarn to the hook.
After practicing some basic stitches, I started trying to follow some patterns. And so, a new hyperfocus was born. I ended up making many pieces, but the one I'm most proud of is this crochet blanket with squares. It was my longest project to date, and I also think the result is beautiful.
The original plan was to make a queen-size bedspread, but the process was so laborious that I decided to make a smaller size and turn it into a sofa blanket.
Soon after I finished this blanket, I used it a few times before my puppy decided to chew a piece of it. I was so frustrated that I stored the blanket away, planning to repair it someday—but it took years to finally find the motivation.
The procrastination ended last week when I finally decided to start the repair. I didn't think I'd even be able to do it, but I actually managed to complete it in about 20 minutes.
I'm so proud of this blanket again and happy that it can now decorate the living room.
