Feria Artesanal de Arte para Papá / Craft Art Fair for Dad [ESP+ENG]

Hello community, family and lovers of crafts in Hive Diy greetings. As part of the branch program of the Cuban Association of Artisan Artists in Ciego de Avila (ACAA), a collective exhibition of leather goods was inaugurated in coordination with the Cuban Fund of Cultural Goods and the Provincial Council of Visual Arts in my city.

The exhibition is made up of more than 20 works and will remain on display throughout the month of July as part of the summer cultural activities in the province, where the creators will exhibit their skill and creativity through various techniques creating unique pieces full of charm. Join me 😉!

Have you ever wondered how the leather products we use every day are made?

Just as wood and stone, leather and the skin of different animals were among the first resources with which man was able to survive and grow in the different natural environments, it is since then that it has perhaps represented his inseparable strategic ally, whether converted into a tool, utensil or coat. In its evolution, this resource has achieved a constant and permanent progress in the ways of treatment, use, applications, aspects and combinations about the properties or benefits that could be obtained from this noble material.

With origins as diverse as the number of animal species on the planet, from the beginning of its presence man knew that he would find in it the element that with its amazing ductility would allow him to solve an immense variety of needs. These are some of the particularities that can be highlighted as qualities of leather, and perhaps it is for this reason that even today, after thousands of years of accompanying man, it still represents the material and symbolic resource that coexists and accompanies him in his daily activities.

This group show brings together the work of several masters of art: Raúl González Marrero, Maria del Carmen Álvarez Fundora, Elías Pimentel Aragón, Mileidis Ríos, Maidelin Ríos, José Antonio Echeverría ( Proyecto Justo a la Moda ), Armando Arredondo González, Reinier Gonzáles Marrero, Javier Álvarez Aldana, Ramón González Alemán, Arley Isbani Alonso Lazo, Rubén Rodríguez and Martha Pérez.

These artists have shown how much good and new is contained in the artistic creation in the territory, with a diverse and coherent sample, where functionality, finish, creativity and utility were interwoven in harmonious complicity.

In the hall, not only leather paintings but also figurines, leather boots, bags and very creative watches were exhibited, a reflection of the creators' talent, vision and commitment to sustainability and consumer demands.

Techniques were used for the confection and creation in leather and fur, such as engravings, handmade leather goods of bags, purses, wallets, belts and garments, among many finished with paintings, a whole artisan show in the gallery.

Each piece made by a leather artisan is unique and carries the imprint of its creator. These skilled artisans do not limit themselves to following established patterns, but deploy their creativity and ingenuity to conceive original and personalized designs.

As you can see, leather craftsmanship is a craft of great value that requires technical, artistic and cultural knowledge. The master leather craftsman is able to create unique and unrepeatable products with his own hands, using a noble and ancestral material such as leather. Handcrafted leather products have a higher quality than industrial ones, as they are more resistant and durable.

Ramón González Alemán with his leather works named "Aboriginal Buchillones" made in honor of the primitive natives of my city, with exceptional values in the province that highlight it as the most important aboriginal area of the insular Caribbean, declared a national monument and cultural and historical heritage of the island.

In conclusion, the leather craftsman is a true protagonist in the arts and crafts industry. Their dedication, skill and love for their craft are reflected in each piece they create, turning leather into a noble and timeless raw material. The legacy of leather artisans will endure through time, keeping alive the essence of a traditional craft that continues to amaze more and more.

At this point, involving each of the members of the ACAA with the existing exhibition events in the province, bringing their work closer to the public and insisting on the promotion and accompaniment of the artist are alternatives that could bring us back full galleries and satisfied expectations.
