Good Monday to all our creative community!!! I hope this week has been productive for you and that you are doing well!
Knitting the sleeves completely finished me off. I gave up and decided to switch to other projects that had been waiting for me for a long time.
I am sure that if the work on the lilac sweater with sleeves had gone well, I would not have been repairing this clothing for a long time. It turns out that it’s even good that I’m stuck with the sleeves. So, the clothes for repair, as I already said, had been waiting for me by this time for quite a long time in a separate pile near my sewing machine.
I needed to repair a house skirt - this is the easiest project of all. It was necessary to cut off the uncomfortable waistband at the top and replace it with a hem with an elastic band.
In fact, this skirt is about 10 years old but I really love it because of the amazing fabric - soft, thin cotton! During the hot season, this is the most suitable clothing for me.
The next project is also an easy one, but this one involved a little more work.
This dress is also made of natural cotton. It's also very comfortable in the summer heat, but the top of this one has completely lost its shape. The thing is that there are thin elastic bands sewn on the chest, which have completely stretched out. This dress didn't look good anymore so I decided to transform it into a summer skirt.
I already have experience with this: I have already transformed a similar dress and now I adore the skirt made from it. So, first I cut off the very top of the dress, which had become unusable.
Next all that was left was to make a hem for the elastic on the waistband. Voila!
Now I have a new (which is actually old) summer skirt :))))
Third in line was my sundress. This is probably 15 years old, but just look at the fabric!
The colors of the fabric have not changed at all over such a long period of time. And the fabric itself is no less stunning: natural, soft cotton. The top of this sundress was also sewn from many thin elastic bands. And as you can see in the photo, it has completely lost its shape.
This time I didn't make a skirt out of it. But I decided to make straps, sew up the cut on the bottom side where the seam is and shorten the sundress a little.
I will make the straps from the fabric cut off at the bottom.
What about my knitting? After a short break I was able to get back to it. Yes, I again untied what I knitted for the sleeve.
I was a complete fiasco with this openwork pattern, alas!
I decided to completely change my original idea - unfortunately it turned out to be unsuccessful (I fully admit this). Now my sleeve will look completely different.
This doesn’t have the old chic of an openwork pattern at all, but it’s much more convenient to work with, and I’m sure it will be easy to wear too.
I think that although it’s a shame, you have to be able to accept that not all initial ideas will be at the highest level and perhaps some of them will have to be adjusted during work.
