My Crochet Journey

Hello lovely hiveee hoomanss!! I have missed a lot these days since classes started last week. All I did was go to school and when I got home I just cleaned everything, rested and slept and then did it again. If you still remember when I introduced myself, I mentioned that I like to crochet. This is why, of all hobbies, why crochet?

I never knew how addictive crocheting can be at first. It has repetitive motions that are very therapeutic and crocheting really brightens my mood. It relieved a lot of stress I was under. Crochet becomes my coping mechanism. Whenever I feel sad, I crochet,I feel anxious, I crochet, I get angry, I crochet.

I still remember the day I decided to force myself to really try crocheting. February 23, 2023 was the first attempt, it turned out that it was not easy, funny how I saw a tiktok video crocheting and how I also tell myself that crocheting was basic and it is easy for me. I thought that all yarns are the same and the result does not differ depending on how the yarn looks, whether it is 2 or 5 strands, so I tried to look on youtube and it did not go very well, because instead of crocheted cute whale, it appears like a butiti fish (this time I was not sure if I will try to crochet again or not), I also tried to crochet a tumbler bag for my sister, but I was not satisfied with the end result, the way I expected and as it should be.

Then by March I got tired and decided to just search and search for crochet ideas on tiktok hoping someone would give me a random handmade croche but no one did hahaha , So I started and tried again after all those tiktoks and youtube videos I watched. I'm so motivated and envious at the same time. This jealousy forces me to do things with my hands because I have no choice and I really wanted to challenge myself and see if I could do it and was being so eager to learn. Then finally I made a cute bee and a cute mini octopus. But since my sister was the biggest fan, I gave it to her and she also supports me by giving me a new set of yarn so I can try again before buying a new set of yarn.

Since our school classes were going to end in the middle of May, I still manage to sell my crochets where made into key chains. I made fried egg, octopus, puff flower, bee and also tried to make eggplant. I was so happy this time because some of my random friends on Facebook messaged me and asked if I could made them a custom key chain like strawberries, berries, daisies, bananas, lemon and lettuce. I grind from May to June to July.

July to the first week of August was a bit busy as I tried to practice and make things like a beanie cat ears hat and a bucket hat. Many thanks to Pinterest for giving me lots of ideas for my crochet designs. I started by making my hat and decided to choose green as the color because our school uniform was also green. I made a hat for my sister and my cousin ordered a bucket hat that took 5 days because I had to balance my time between household chores and other hobbies. My friends also ordered the beanie cat ear hat since The opening of classes is fast approaching and we get to see each other again.

Now i know that the anxiety reliever thing is so real, and I am now finally understanding my obsession. Lastly, I love crocheting but I am in such a slump recently and just get in bed after school. To my crochet girlies, any advice how to get back into it?
