Greetings dear creative Hivers, I hope your day is going as desired, wishing you all the best of all you desire.
Being able to share with you my recent sewing activity adds up to what makes my day feel fulfilled especially if the project I worked on helps fulfill one desire/want.
Marvy is a young teenage boy in my local church who recently joined the choir group about a month ago, a talented young boy I must say, during last Sunday's service, I observed while he was ministering that he is yet to have his uniform, particularly the shirt they often wear over a black trouser, getting a black trouser is easy as almost anyone has one black trouser or skirt in their wardrobe, so I decided to make him the shirt so can be in uniform with others, since it is a common material to get at the fabric store around here, I did just that, I believe we don't need to be millionaires to be able to give or render certain freewill service to others, as long as we are in a position that can meet certain needs, then you are capable. For me, it's my sewing skills.
I got about one and a half yards of the fabric, I'm good at guessing people's sizes to some extent, so I didn't bother measuring him, as I wanted it to be a surprise gift to him, as a way to encourage him to keep giving his best in the choir group and his ministration, I love seeing our young ones using their talent to the glory of God.
Materials Used
Light Crepe fabric
Matching colored thread
Collar stay
Making Process
- I started by drafting and cutting out the shirt's front and back pattern, the front has two pieces with an extra for the front lapel
- While the back is just one pattern piece
- Next, I joined the front and back by the shoulders after folding the front where the button and buttonhole are supposed to be placed
- The next process that follows is drafting the collar pattern, which consists of four pieces, two for each, which would be turned before joining around the neckline.
- For the shirt sleeves, I drafted and cut out a short sleeve pattern, and folded its hem before joining them around the shirt armhole.
- Finally, I joined the shirt, front and back by the sides and also hemmed it neatly with the one-inch hem allowance given.
Finally, I added buttons, I already created buttonholes,
I look forward to the joy on Marvy's face when he gets to receive his choir Short Sleeve Shirt on Sunday.
Another beautiful project completed, and I'm more than excited to jump to the next, guess what? Ok, no guessing, my sister will be having her Traditional marriage on the 7th of December, which happens to be my birthday too, a double celebration with double new dresses to make, I can't wait to share the creative process of all the ideas running in my head right now, so, stay tuned to my needlework Monday post, it is going to be an interesting one, making a bride's outfit also the birthday girl's outfit.
Till next time, have a blessed day and stay well.

Oh, this is so kind of you. Putting smiles on people's faces is priceless. I can imagine the joy Marvy will feel and the excitement on his face. This was so thoughtful of you and expresses your kindheartedness.
Now, I'm looking forward to what you'll wow us with bringing the designs you have in mind for the beautiful bride, your sister and your birthday outfit to reality. This reminds me of the time my sister designed her traditional outfits and those of her bridal ladies.
You're doing a great job dear. Keep it coming.
Happy birthday in advance and happy married life to your sister. God bless you and her new home. 🧡
I hopped in from your threadstorm. I found out the link to your post was not properly written so I had to come in through your blog feed on your profile. You may want to edit it for others who want to check it out. 😊
Have a wonderful day dear.
Thank you so very much, giving brings joy to even the giver than the receiver, so it's my pleasure.
I will sure keep you updated on the bridal and birthday look.
Oh really, thanks so much for your observation, will do that now.
You're welcome. The joy received by both parties.
Okay, looking forward to that.
You're most welcome.
Have a lovely day. 🧡
It looks amazing. Love its design. It gives a positive vibe. It's good to see how you made it. Great job!
Thank you❤
Word! We don't have to be so big to bless people. Marvy would be so grateful. Musicians need such love, you know. What instrument does he play?
That's right, he sings and plays the guitar.
