The Osaka High Court has ruled that it is unconstitutional to not allow same-sex marriage. Little by little, things are changing in Japan, I guess. But, kinda too slow, I feel. ;/

In the garden, my hyacinths are finally blooming! I planted those bulbs a few years ago, and even though they haven’t bloomed for a while, the lush green leaves kept me hopeful. I’m so excited to see them in full bloom this year!

In Osaka, something pretty significant happened today at the high court. They ruled that same-sex marriages are unconstitutional under the current law. I feel the government will appeal this decision to the Supreme Court, but it’s a moment that makes me feel the gradual changes happening in society. When I shared this with my Canadian friend, he was taken aback and said, “Too late!” It sparked an interesting conversation between us! LOL! 😅

On a happier note, I had a delightful surprise—my Phalaenopsis orchid has sprouted flowers! With the warmer spring weather, it seems like they’re thriving, which makes me really happy.

I also added cute figurines of characters from "Spirited Away" that I bought recently. I absolutely adore it! It’s the god of radish and brings a smile to my face every time I see it.

And guess what? I had dinner with Okan again today! It was nice to listen to her and really engage in the conversation. I nodded as she shared his thoughts; connecting without feeling frustrated felt great. What a lovely day!

庭ではヒヤシンスが咲いていました。このヒヤシンスは数年前に球根を植えて、ここ数年は咲かなかったのですが青々とした葉っぱがしげっていて、きっといつか咲くのかなぁと思っていたので今年は咲いてうれしいです。

大阪では今日は歴史的な判決が高等裁判所で決定されました。同性婚が認められないのは現行の法律では違憲だと認められました。国は最高裁判所へ上告すると思うのですが、少しづつ変わってゆく社会の変化を感じさせられる日になりました。カナダ人の友人に伝えると、「遅すぎる！」と一喝されてしまいましたが。

それとうれしい発見がありました。家においている胡蝶蘭の花芽がでていました。春の陽気で気温が上がってきたので、胡蝶蘭も元気になってきました。

それと、話は変わるのですが、先日買った「千と千尋の神隠し」に出てくるキャラクターの置物を飾ってみました。めっちゃ気に入っています。大根の神様が大好きです。

そして、今日もオカンと食事をしました。しっかりと話を聞いてあげれました。イライラせず何回も何回もうなづいて聞きました。
