The Wolf Moon

Native Americans named the January full moon the Wolf Moon because at this time of year they heard hungry wolves howling near their villages.

My nighttime photography skills are poor, and I have the best luck capturing photos at night with my phone camera.

Driving past the cemetery

Not the moon, but a brightly lit barn.

Here are through-the-window shots of the moon coming up. These were taken from my bedroom window. I often have trouble sleeping on nights when the moon is bright, and sleep best on nights when my bedroom is dark.

I'm happy not having street lights in my neighborhood. 😊

You're quite brave driving through the cemetery during the wolf moon! I captured it yesterday as well but it was quite cloudy where I live. The moon was indeed beautiful yesterday(my time).

I also sleep better when my room is dark and often switch off every light bulb.Pleasant evening dear @melinda010100

Have been going through some of the entries already, with different narration and experienceI don't think I can walk or drive past a cemetery at night, am scared a ghost might show up 😂 and I guess that was just a good question by @silversaver888 for ladies of hive contest for this week.

That lit lamb was really bright to have give out such light.

Well done.

Thank you! I grew up in a small town and our house was right next door to the cemetery, so it always just seemed to be a part of my life and I was never afraid.

I feel myself lucky in this aspect, because I currently do not have (and have not had) any sleeping problems. A few years ago I saw a book about the moon. I currently do not remember its title, nor its author, but it contained a lot of details about the moon's effect on the world, particularly the lunar cycle, which is affecting humans too, so the moon is probably much more than a simple astronomical body.

I agree! If it can affect oceans and tides, most likely it affects many things that we are unaware of.

Hi melinda010100, long time.
I did not know that about it being called the Wolf Moon. Interesting.
I too, dislike having street light around, but so far, luckily they are only out front of my property.
So I got this one last night from one of my remote cams in the back yard

I think your publication is very interesting, you should keep uploading more contents of this kind, congratulations.

This captures are amazing and I love every part of it.

Very nice ^^ .. I know the fors moon of year year also as the ice moon 😉 .. but wolf moon sounds far far better !

Ice moon is appropriate for this part of the world! It would be amazing to hear wolves howling at the moon!

This is a nice view and capture of the moon.
Unlike you I like light 😜 and I sleep comfortably with my room light on.

Thanks! I do like total darkness for sleeping!

What beautiful shots of moons you have done, I appreciate that you let us knowhow are you dear friend @melinda010100 good afternoon

This natural phenomenon has been seen almost all week in my town, we have also taken some shots

Have a beautiful night

Have you posted your moon photos? I will look for them!

So beautiful the moon was. Here also in our place I saw the beauty of the moon last night but I didn't capture it, because my phone is not that beautiful to capture photos at night. I just ruin thr beautiful view of it, if I took a shot on it.😊

I think nighttime photos are hard too and I am seldom successful.

Ohhhh...past the cemetery.... yikes!!!
I'm reading all these ghost stories and ...
Beautiful moon photos.
It is really dark!
Now, why is the barn brightly lit?

Maybe to light up the farmyard in case there is work that needs to be done at night? Or just for security.

You received 5 LADY(LOH) tokens for entering the Ladies of Hive contest!

We believe that you should be rewarded for the time and effort spent in creating articles. The goal is to encourage token holders to accumulate and hold LOH tokens over a long period of time.

Wooohooo! I love my Lady tokens!

Me gustan tus fotos, generan un clima misterioso.

I learned something new today. January full moon is Wolf Moon. 😊

@melinda010100 The barn picture and the one above that of the moon are awesome. They have such a dreamy effect. I knew about the wolf moon because I did spend some time in Africa (3-4 years actually) but somehow, did not know why it was called that. Thanks to you, now I know. 😀

Thanks! I frequently hear coyotes howling, but we don't have wolves here. The Wolf Moon reminds me that there was a time that wolves lived here, too.

The voices of wolves would have also caused disturbance in sleep. I wonder if you don't use curtains to cover your Windows so the light of moon coming to your can be hindered

There are no wolves in my neighborhood but occasionally the coyotes howling wake me up! I have honeycombed shades on the windows that are designed to be energy efficient, but they are not light blocking. When they need replacing I will look at different options. 🙄

It was super nice this first full moon! Hmmm, phones are a true hard nut for night photography yes. Even a camera needs a lot of practice, tripod and editing skills. However, you did catch some of this spooky feel, especially with the cemetery :) Ps: Not having street lights is a blessing!
