This year is a strange and exciting Halloween. The 31st fell on a Thursday, which is technically a school night. Those of us parents who are juggling many balls at the same time are so grateful that although Halloween was actually on the 31st, we are celebrating it today since it's a Saturday. Some people will celebrate from Thursday till Sunday!
Late afternoon/early last night I was lying in bed and I could hear the Halloween walk in our neighborhood. It has grown over the years to over 2000 participants. It's an incredible neighborhood collaboration with the police and the neighborhood watch closing off roads and making sure trick-or-treaters are as safe as possible. For a suburb that was sort of known as being conservative Christian, it's actually quite cool to see how many parents have calmed TF down and stopped calling it "the devil's birthday" and have realized it's really just a whole lot of fun. After the long walk - I know it's long because I've done it in full Halloween costume with three kids, and eating so much candy the kids crash early and the parents get a chance to party and rest their feet and brains a bit with a well-deserved cold beverage!

Somehow I managed to overfill all the cupcake holders so batter bubbled out everywhere and I overbaked everything but it all tasted delicious. I know it will be even more so with icing! I had to test them you know,- quality control :p).
Wish us adults luck as we get our preparations underway for our Halloween Braai, which is possibly the first social event we've hosted all year!

I so appreciate you and how you commented <3 A lot of people don't celebrate Halloween and that's ok. We had an amazing time and all the preparation was worth it! But really I love the idea that we can all do what we want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. The only thing that's hurting is my sugar levels 😂😂 We also adopted the Mexican tradition of the Mexican "Day of the Dead" and we put up pictures of those we have lost to remember and celebrate their lives <3
That's great! That tradition is very nice and respectful. I like it very much although in my country the custom is to go to mass and give a special ceremony to all our deceased. I'm glad you had a great time. Greetings! 💕
