Silver-spotted skipper Butterfly feeding on Jasmine flower

When most think of pollinators Bees are probably the first thing to come to mind. Though there are many insects that do this important duty. Some flies, hummingbirds, beetles, moths and butterflies travel from flower to flower. Bringing pollen along that has a chance of making a plant fruit. Not that the Jasmine produces fruit, it produces a bean pods. Not sure if I can eat those. But good to see a butterfly on one of the flowers.

I was checking out new growth on many plants around when I spotted this butterfly feeding on this Jasmine flower. I was not sure what it was until I started looking up brown and white spotted butterflies. I quickly found an image of one that was identified and sure looks the same to me.

It let me get real close to it, must have really been enjoying the nectar inside of the jasmine flower.

It flew away but gave me some great photos before leaving, I took a couple more of the Jasmine vine. New growth was forming upwards trying to find new things to attach to. Like most of my vines I cut them back as they grow too big.

The new leaves have a copper color to them, and the flowers are white with a strong fragrance to them. You do not even have to be right up next to it to smell it, but from many feet away the scent can be noticed.

This vine has been producing flowers for many years now, love the smell it makes around it and how it attracts pollinators like seen in this post.

The vine has found a good home resting on one of the fences, it tries to grow further though. But I keep it well trimmed and seems to do well with the space it has. Sometimes it tries to grow other plants and then I have to cut it back as well. But its never had an issue with being cut back and seems quite strong.
