A Profitable Business.. Or Not?

in GEMSlast year

Is your business profitable yet?

Points to Ponder

Today we have some very basic questions for all business owners and entrepreneurs:

  1. How many years have you been in business?
  2. Is your business profitable yet? If not, why not?
  3. Are you receiving money (bailouts) from anyone to keep your business alive?
  4. Are you reducing your expenses and liabilities? If not, why not?
  5. Does your business fill a gap in the marketplace?
  6. Is your business still laser focused on its core competency? Or are you spreading yourself too thin across many different ventures?

I see so many zombie businesses today that DON'T HAVE TO BE. Having a solid Business Plan and Path to Profitability are everything. Even in this horrible economy, it is possible to become profitable.

Worker Hours

Can you cut Worker hours back a little bit and slow down? This will free up their time so that they can make ends meet through other jobs and lower their fears of being laid off completely.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how efficient is your business?

Thin, Profitable Marketing

Can you do some things to market your business that are essentially FREE to increase sales and use of your product or service? Hand out flyers, send some emails, go on a podcast, submit a press release, volunteer somewhere that might want to refer clients to you, or even join forces with a complementary business which can increase your own business offerings..?

Are your customers sticking around and spreading the word about you in a positive way?

Expenses and Liabilities

Can you cut back on personal expenditures, travel, advertisements with low ROI, subscription payments, risky ventures, excessive gaming and internet use, dining out, and buying gadgets that will not help your business profitability?

Can you dump reliance on fees paid to online services and switch to free (and even profitable) self-hosted solutions like Hive-Tube, Nextcloud, Onlyoffice, Forgejo and internet telephony?

I hope some of the Points to Ponder above help your business to succeed.
