Today i'm going to take a break from my usual subject choice of ocean based creatures and cover my other favorite topic, motorcycles. My love of bikes has been life long, riding and racing since I was a young boy. Together with the wife our passion has become a bit of a obsession, we own more bikes than anyone should need but it's so much easier to buy rather than sell. Many of them are classics which are becoming ever popular so to be fair they are probably a good investment. I spend endless hours in the workshop when i'm in the UK restoring vintage machinery and always love to bring bikes back from the dead. Here's a few shots of complete bikes and some of parts that are awaiting their turn to go on one of my many projects. First up is a classic Honda I restored for the wife, she hates me because I later sold this one.

In my defense I replaced it with a brand new Yamaha that was more reliable and a lot faster, so I sort of redeemed myself. I think she's smiling about it:)

When it comes to bikes I can't help myself, about ten years ago I found a appreciation for mopeds. This model by Honda was a massive seller world wide, launched in the 70's amid a fuel crisis the petrol tank took 2 litres of fuel and would do close to 120km per fill so very efficient when fuel is in short supply. Somehow I ended up owning four of these.

Nice toys! I loved motorcycles since I was very young but I still didn't manage to fill this dream :)
They are a great way to get out and about, you get to enjoy the elements. The feeling of charging along with the breeze in your face is priceless.

Yes first model, it's a great little bike, Yamaha nailed it with the MT range, not sure i'm as keen on the newer models and the 10 is too far away from the original idea of a back to basics bike, I have the MT09 street tracker which is also a great machine.
Yamaha is slowly improving their bikes' performance as they're too far away with Honda in terms of the trends. They often trade off their bikes integrity in exchange for better outer look. A big example is the MT10.
Honda are the bench mark for sure but Yamaha build fun bikes where iv'e always found Honda a bit boring in their approach. Iv'e been into bikes for decades and with the fireblade aside it's been Yamaha that have built bikes that get riders excited. What happens in Moto GP is not overly relevant to us day to day users. Not since yammy built the RD's of the 80's has there been a more fun bike to ride until the MT's came along. The mt09 is amazing value and the 850 triple engine is stunning, for sure there are some issues namely the rear shock which is awful but at it's price point it's a winner for me. KTM are the ones that are continuing to blow every out of the water though, their build quality is second to none, except the ones not built in Austria.
Yep, no doubt about that. It's far the most in demand brand among other brands of bikes in the market. And I agree, it's totally irrelevant to compare MotoGP bikes to our ordinary ones.
