Cooking Buttered Shrimp

Last week, my wife and I decided to go to the local wet market. It was a wonderfully bright sunny day. We started at the fish/seafood section of the market. There was a variety of fish available; Spanish mackerels, cobias, and tunas; both yellowfin and bluefin tunas were also available. Some crabs, and sardines. But what particularly caught my eye was the fresh shrimp.

"Hey let's check out that fresh shrimp over there," I said to my wife.

"Didn't we eat shrimp last week?" she replied.

I told her yes we did eat shrimp last week. "But I would like to cook that with butter," I replied.

"Whatever!" she smirked.

We then proceeded to buy that shrimp. It was a good deal because the shrimp was cheap. It was shrimp season I guess. There was a lot of shrimp at that time. Law of supply and demand.

Afterward, we then proceeded to buy some other items and a few kilos of meat just for our consumption for the whole week.

When we arrived home, I started to cook the shrimp. I was feeling hungry. My wife was hungry. My daughter was hungry. The solution? Do a quick stir-fried buttered shrimp. I then proceeded to prepare the materials for cooking. mise en place.

By the way, a shrimp is a crustacean with an elongated body. It is different from prawns, which are way larger than shrimps.

Shrimps are also a good source of proteins, which have low calories but are packed with more nutrients.

Shrimps have also low mercury content, which makes them far safer to eat, considering that some fish species have high mercury content which is dangerous to our health.

Eating shrimp also reduces the risk of heart disease, which makes it a better alternative to pork and beef meats.
