The river is definitely the place to be for seeing boulders and rocks of all shapes and sizes.

It's been a very dry and warm Summer.
The river is lowest I've ever seen it.

20200822_151600.jpg

So shallow in some places I can now walk across it stepping from one stone to another.

The river is very calm and quiet right now but it change into a mighty powerful source of flowing water.

Purple Joe-Pye weed growing in a crevice of big boulder.
Organic matter gets deposited in the crevices and cracks when the river is running high and floods.

More beautiful Joe-Pye weed growing by the river's shore.
There were a couple of Monarch butterflies busily flying around them.
I was hoping to get close enough to take a couple of pictures of them but I didn't.
I was very excited and delighted to them.

For now I'm enjoying see the many wonderful boulders and rocks.
Steady rain will come as it often does in the Autumn months.
Many of the boulders and rocks will be hidden once again beneath the water again.

The river is a perfect and beautiful place to be to sit and relax on very warm Summer day.

Great photos/ Your river has some awesome boulders Annie.๐Ÿ’ž

It is also very dry here from the unusual hot summer. The soil is dry and people are complaining about their wells going dry. Iโ€™ve never seen so many lawns that look brown.

Purple Joe-Pye weed adds a nice color.๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒธ

I love seeing your neck of the woods when it's not covered in snow! You must really appreciate the good weather. I am loving having the sun myself.

I think we must be getting your share of rain! I just saw where our emergency responders had to do a river rescue for two kayakers on a small river that is normally very calm and gentle. More rain is expected tomorrow night. As always, your photos are wonderful! Don't you wonder why Joe has a flower named after him?

๐ŸŒž
Thank You!

It has been really dry. Have received some rain but need more. I know it will change and I'll be hoping it will stop raining ๐Ÿ˜.
Oh...Wow...!!!!
I hope the Kayakers were safely rescued...!!!!!
I am wondering why Joe has a flower named after him now that you mention it...๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜†. Never thought about it before...๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‰. @melinda010100

Found this in a 1993 NYT article. "AS the story goes, there once was an Indian medicine man named Joe Pye who used concoctions from a wild plant found growing in the nearby woods to cure typhoid fever. His brew is said to have halted an epidemic that raged in Colonial Massachusetts. Hence this local plant became forever known as joe-pye weed." ๐Ÿ˜
The kayakers were rescued after 3 emergency responders ran 2 1/2 miles through the woods to reach them.

๐ŸŒž
Wow...!
Thank You for researching. Amazing information.
I can certainly now understand now how it got it's name...!
I wonder what herbal remedy Joe Pye would have come up with for the Coronavirus.
So glad to know the Kayakers are alright. It could have been a tragic outcome.

There is probably an herbal remedy out there, but we have chosen to trust man-made synthetic drugs that are created in labs rather than researching what nature provides.

The kayakers were out of state tourists who must not have realized that conditions on the river were different this year.

Very beautiful๐Ÿ‘

Thank You..!

I enjoy spending time at the river and taking pictures. It's always beautiful there.

Awesome boulders @annephilbrick .... I canโ€™t remember if I mentioned that you have about 2,000 Blurt crypto over on Https://Blurt.World .... a fork from Steem (like Hive) ... a Blurt is worth about a penny now. https://Blurt.World/@annephilbrick

๐ŸŒž
Thank You..!!

You did make mention quite a while back. I haven't had a chance yet to check out Blurt World yet.
Thank you for the link. I shall check it out real soon..!
Thank you bringing this to my attention ๐Ÿค—..!!
I have had an extra crazy busy Summer working. I totally forgot about Blurt. @offgridlife

Beautiful photographs of all the stones, so many of them when
the waters lower! Do the Joe-Pye weeds have a slight minty
smell? They remind me of a plant by some creeks that did.
Did you stack those cute little rocks? Really awesome how
blue the water is in some shots.
Love all your photos especially the last one! :-)Such a fantastic boulder river you have โค @annephilbrick!
