Wild bee species gnaw their nesting passage

in CCH3 years ago

Some wild bee species gnaw their nesting passages into plant stems containing pith. Naturally broken stems of blackberries are at the top of the wish list. Single and vertical dead stalks are preferred.
Wild bee species that live in the marrow stalk look specifically for vertical structures in the area in flight. They then examine these specifically to see whether they are suitable for nesting. By cleaning up and pruning in autumn, we deprive the bees of their natural nesting opportunities.
These are then stuck vertically and individually distributed in the garden in autumn. The bees do not accept bundled stalks. The vertical, slightly inclined alignment is important.
