Some days ago I stumbled on a content from a random account with originated post @der-prophet which is about planting and writing about the development of growing your own pumpkin. Fortunately, I have been able to create small garden beside a fence at the back of my house. Though my initial plan was to grow okro, jute mallow, Lagos spinach and uguw pumpkin. So that's why I am using that opportunity to join the @hive-world-champ such that as I'm updating about my garden, I will as well be using that opportunity to update the development of my pumpkin on the @hive-world-champ platform.

What type of pumpkin am I planting and what is the method of planting the pumpkin?

If you are someone who's familiar with pumpkin family, you will discover that there are varieties and different kinds and types of pumpkin all over the world. We can even say it's uncountable, the funniest thing is, anyone of them that you come across has it own name attached to it. But for me, the type of pumpkin I'm planting is fluted pumpkin leaves popularly known as Ugu leave most especially in the Eastern part of Nigeria. The fluted pumpkin leaves is common among the Ibos before it spreads to the other part of Nigeria.

Normally, the fluted pumpkin leaves has seed which can be planted by digging and covering soil method but the seed is not so common but can be found with People selling seeds in the Agro store. When you are able to get it from them, the next thing is to transplant. What is transplanting method? It's the process moving a plant from the primary bed to the secondary bed.

The method of planting.

The method that I used for planting the fluted pumpkin leaf is by digging and covering soil method from the primary bed to the secondary bed. The primary bed is from the agro store that I bought the seed that's already germinated.

When I got home, now in my small garden, I dug a small hole and filled it with water.

After I filled it with water,I removed the nylon that is used to house the seeds and then place in the small hole and cover it with soil.

I will like to suggest that the pumpkin challenge on @hive-world-champ should have a tag and maybe if there can be suggestion on any designated community to post our contents concerning the pumpkin competition. @der-prophet @danielhuhservice

I am delighted that you are taking part in the first hive world championship.

Did I understand correctly that you live in Nigeria? That means that this challenge is actually a world championship thanks to you.

At the moment "only" Europeans seem to have agreed to grow pumpkins.

I don't know your type of pumpkin yet, I'm curious to see how it develops.

PS. You are now welcome to use the hashtag hwc2024.

I wish you every success 😉

Thanks for your response @der-prophet. In fairness when it comes to partaking in challenge like this, give it up for Nigerians. If you check the maize challenge 2022 with the hashtag #mc2022 initiated by @felixxx , we really threw ourselves in and we made it all fun.

As I have stated above. That's the kind of pumpkin I'm growing. Of course we have varieties of them but this in particular is called "fluted pumpkin leaf" popularly known as Ugu in Nigeria.

Don't worry you will get to see more of my updates as my pumpkin vegetable plant is spreading and developing. Thanks for your time Buddy.
