Happy New Day to my pleasant community. The new year has been coming on pretty well, even though it is getting really quiet here more than it usually does. By now I was expecting that the cold season would have been gone, ushering us into days of higher temperatures, but that isn't so compared to some other years. In the previous years, the heat takes over almost as soon as we enter the new year.
It is a good thing to enjoy more cooler days, as I won't want the discomforting heat from higher temperatures to take over just yet.
Away from all these, I am really surprised this morning to have noticed a new shoot coming out of the stump of my fluted pumpkin plants. Having narrated my ordeal of how I had lost this biannual vegetable plant that would have lasted me for 2 years or even more.
I had checked in town yesterday at the Agric store to see if I could get another set of the pumpkin seeds for replanting, but the stores aren't open yet. They are most likely still on holiday, as most people have resumed work. While waiting to plant new seeds, this shoot has come up bearing some leaves already; they must have been hidden under the drying leaves for me to not have noticed them earlier.
Seeing new stems will not stop me from planting some newer seeds since I am not too sure if these would survive or not.
The leaves are yellowish-green already and somehow the soil needs some fertilizer.
Even the veggies I had planted couldn't germinate. I have thought about the various reasons that could have prevented such but couldn't seem to pinpoint any. Over 10 days now, and not a single seed of the veggies has germinated; it is really weird and unusual, and my very first experience of not having my veggies germinate.
Hopefully I will get some seeds from another store in town today to replant everything, but before then I am currently sewing a dress I wish to wear out today. Since everywhere is quiet today and I am enjoying this much peace, I'm using the moment to sew a nice dress for myself.
Tomorrow would be my brother's clinic day, and we would be taking him to see the doctor right after I am done with house chores and gardening.
