Hello beautiful people, It's yet another brand new day for us, and I can never be less grateful for the gift of life and breath. It is a blessing to wake up refreshed, hale, and hearty. Being alive gives us the privilege to both dream and hope.
There is no vision, goals, or dreams for a dead person, and neither is there the ability or a chance to chase these dreams when our bodies are not in good health. Waking up in good health to continue with my daily task and the hope for a better life is a huge blessing.
I have learned that when you eat healthy, your health feels good and preserves. It is better to eat natural foods and herbs that will help our immune system instead of looking for supplements from the store.
I noticed some young ladies yesterday at the pharmacy purchasing folic acid, cold liver oil, and multivitamins. They were taught that these combinations will make their skin fresh, and they can gain some weight using these herbs.
Why take multivitamins when you can get the needed vitamins and minerals directly from simple plants you can grow?
In the same line, we equally have people who go to the store to purchase anti-diarrhea for stooling and all manner of drugs. If only they could realize that adding these scent leaves to their meals can prevent diarrhea after meals.
If only my ladies above could see that eating enough of our fluted pumpkins can make their bodies have sufficient blood and that there will be no need for blood boosters.
If only we knew that lemon grass assists our bodies with typhoid fever and other bacterial diseases.
And if they know likewise how bitterleaves are also useful as antimalarial and for other effective uses. Consistently, I have these close by and can't remember falling sick that much compared to previous times. Hardly a single day would pass without me getting to eat some veggies or plants that will be of good use to my body.
I have seen and experienced the benefits of taking these medicinal plants, and they have been my first option for prevention and treatment; hence, the intake of modern medicine for me has reduced drastically.
It has been a while since I have been wanting to add some more medicinal plants to my garden, even though I am still busy with farm work and get to tend to the garden as I ought.
Sourcing for these plants is a bit tasky, as not many people keep gardens here or grow medicinal plants. Each time I visit a place and happen to stumble upon any of these plants and herbs that will be of importance to me, I hardly waste time to get the seeds or stems for planting in my own garden.
Yesterday I stumbled upon "Kalanchoe pinnata" at a garden kept by a friend. I was surprised to see them and asked her what she knew about them. Their health usefulness ranges from being able to assist with stomach ulcers and arthritis in adults.
For a long time, I have always wondered why one of my grandma's in the city had often washed and eaten these leaves. Not knowing that it had often helped her with the knee conditions. Grandma used a lot of Ibuprofen for the knee pain, but she has never for once abandoned eating the leaves of this plant.
It has other antimicrobial properties, and most people pluck, wash, and eat the leaves raw without cooking them.
I got some of the stem as I was taught how to plant it; after planting it yesterday, I hope that this will germinate and I could try using them to see for myself.
There are a lot of other herbs that are of so many health benefits to us, and it will be good if we can explore and grow some of them by the house.
Thank you for sharing! Very usefull information
