Good morning beloved homestead family and gardeners. Hope we are all having a good time out there.

Today I will like to proudly show off my tomatoes πŸ…πŸ…πŸ…πŸ…πŸ… as I keep on getting new bulbs everyday.

I have as many tomatoes here and really feel glad about this. This has been one of the veggies I have grown easily. Even though by now I can't really remember when I planted them unless I backdate my blog for that information. It helps me keep tracks of the life cycle of my crops from the germination to maturing stage.

I remember posting about these some 2weeks ago when I started having big tomatoes bulbs here but till now I am yet to meet with the stage of Harvesting any of these

Why are my tomatoes not getting ripe?

For more than two weeks now, I haven't gotten a single ripe tomatoes here. This is my first experience and I don't know how long it takes for tomatoes to ripen up.
Is there something I am meant to do to these.

Seeing the way alot of people bring in baskets of ripped tomatoes to sell at the market during harvest I am beginning to wonder how they were able to grow them and even get so much ripe tomatoes.

We eat alot of tomatoes everyday all around the world but I'm sure that alot of people lack the knowledge on how these are grown. There must equally be several types/species of tomatoes.

I had encountered some challenges growing these; from having the plant grow along the ground and all my tomatoes bulbs in the floor(I was taught here to place cartons across the ground so that they can stay in them) I was equally taught how to support the tomatoes plants above the ground with sticks. Just a whole lot here to learn

Now my tomatoes aren't getting ripe and I am here for more enquiries mucha as I would be surfing the internet for solutions too.

Yesterday was a free day for me and since I was home I decided to check on my garden and a few things at home before going out about midday for a walk only to meet an unfortunate scene in town.

We have taking a break and stayed back home. Talking about the rains over flooding our farms as the major problem on ground but looking beyond that another sad incident surfaced when we noticed the lifeless body of a child on the top of the waters at past midday.

The erosion/flood must have carried the child from somewhere we don't know. The level of water was a scary one, alot of people gathered at the scene to see the child but no one was able to dive into the water to withdraw the body up until when I left the scene.

We all need to stay safe in town whenever the rains get heavy as there are no proper draining a systems around here and flood water is picking up people in different places.

Now I am laughing at myself because I love tomatoes and eat them a lot, but I don't know how they are planted and grown.
It is amazing that you know how to plant and nurture all these crops.
Now I am also worried why the tomatoes are not ripe yet πŸ€”
Maybe it is not getting enough sunshine because of the constant rain.
Maybe the location where yours is, lacks sufficient sunlight to brighten and ripen the tomatoes.

I feel so sad about the death of the boy.

God help us.
May his soup rest in peace πŸ™.

Hello, Monica. As always, it's nice to know about you.
I think it's crazy how unfamiliar we are with the growing process of the things we eat. I'm sorry about the over flooding in your community, and the child that died, but thanks for sharing the story, and I really hope that you and people from your community stay safe.
Big hugs.
