Absolute garbage night and shit morning yesterday. The tray of bobbin holders was done and they all came out very nicely. I tossed them aside and headed out to work on my truck first thing.

I finally got the stupid exhaust part out and was able to get access to the starter which came off then the bolts to the flex plate were able to be removed easily. I will say the magnet I put in the 14mm socket is perfect to keep the bolts captive enough to not lose them in the bell housing.

Got a chess set printed off. These all stack on the holder and can go in the pocket.

By 10am I had the engine unbolted and lifted clear of the transmission.

I ended up using my big pry bars to move the hoist around by myself which was WAY WAY easier than pulling and pushing on the damn thing. LEVER it where I need it.

Soon I had the engine on the stand and the hoist folded up. I drained the oil then from the engine and pulled a number of parts off. I found a couple things slightly wrong with the exhausts and the intake where seals where not quite right.

I'm really getting the hang of the engine removal....

Mid morning it started to rain. And then it REALLY rained.

I got the engine rolled over and popped the bottom plate off to expose the crank. Nicely nothing looked amiss and everything looks tight.

This is the crank shaft position sensor with a healthy coating of magnetic material and sludge.

It started SUPER DUMPING rain and the carport got flooded a bit despite my attempts at ditching a little. It was a crazy hard rain and I was SERIOUSLY disappointed to see the gauge showed only .15" after it ended...

The Seahawks laid down the pain on Atl. Quite astonishing to see them doing as well this year.

The black did SHITTY! I got half to come out okay and half got borked in the early layers. Something with the support and model in same level that is not right.

The dumping was crazy strong and it was like a wall of water at times.

Next chess set finished. I found the storage posts were a bit too tall so I shrunk to 4.5" tall for the next print.

The farthest bearing from the oil pump looks quite good still.

The shortened posts.

I had to take the engine off the stand to get he rear main seal holder plate removed so ended up setting the block on blocks for the night.

So my eye is obviously not good enough to see why the rear main is bad. I can't see anywhere that looks like it was for sure blasting oil. And when I drained the oil there was still a LOT in the block. Far more than the single quart I put in to get it the mile.
While looking at the main seal on Autozone I saw a person tell of their problem with a seal blowing out right away and having to redo the entire thing. They went with an OEM seal and had zero problems then. SOOOO I am ordering an OEM seal from Toyota in hopes that I will get a true and proper part that won't explode on me within a couple weeks. I need to check the heads and a few other parts then make the list of seals I need and get the order done today.

J made a batch of tortillas for dinner which came out delicious. His tend towards a thicker flat bread style where mine end up thinner and more tortilla like. These worked perfect though as I split mine in half like a pita and used it for my dinner.

The white chess sets came off pretty nicely and they have the shorter holders. J now has a set and I am looking at making a rolling or folding chess board to fit the 3/4" round pieces. Set the plate of bobbin holders to go into the night and ended up with 4 or so borked again.

4am awake again today for no fucking reason. Will get printer going soon, boys to school, clothes washed, Man Utd will get destroyed mid day, I will keep at the truck engine, then R has PT in the afternoon now so will have him there after school, then dinner this evening and I should work on tying a few flies during the day.

OEM seal just might do the truck my friend!!👍😀
On that Subaru seal I also found that I tapped it in a little bit crooked, it would come back out....
Ended up buying a seal installing tool ,so they would tap in perfectly level!😇
I don't like the look of all those metal bits.
New parts gonna slough a little shavings as everything wears into place. I was a bit concerned too but my Dad set me straight.
The reason people used to obsess over the "break-in period" for new cars back in the day, too, I suppose.
