For my current mixed media art project, I envisioned a dark, swamp setting against a moonlit skyline. In the distance on the mountaintop lava flows. However, in the swamp, the coolness of the night stirs a mist over the waters.
The woman waits by the edge of the trees, careful not to disturb the night creatures. Only when she feels it's safe to uncover herself does she step into the moonlight.
The swamp creatures are at first confused and afraid by her appearance. All she touches glows in the dark. Gradually, they come to realize she isn't a threat to their safety. They bond with her as she explains how she came to be a creature of the swamp as they are.
Below are my procedures.
I gathered images that reflected my theme. Taking time to locate and compile the various images is a time-consuming task. Just when I think an image with blend well, it changes the scene that detracts from my theme. fortunately, I was able to find the right combination of images that reflected my vision.
The moonlit sky provided enough light in my scene that I could use dark, even black images, so I decided on a dark landscape. I included my pure fractal to add a glow to the swamp. The landscape image I chose provided enough color to break up the dark images. For the female, I again chose a dark image that reflected a forest throughout her body. I feel that all the images worked well together.
Here are the images I compiled:
Reflection night moon ~ Blue woman in forest ~ Black rock landscape ~ Iron melt ~ Little Egret ~ Bird flock ~ Bird bowl
I then utilized Canva to blend the different type images. I leave with you my procedures which begin with a blank, white canvas. I then add layers of elements in accordance with my upgraded Annual Pro Membership that includes tools to remove backgrounds, colorize, resize, filter, duplicate, and reposition items as required. Perhaps of all the tools, the ability to remove backgrounds thereby creating transparencies of the images is crucial to the blending process.
Here's my completed project:

You have an excellent ability to make images work together, I really liked the touch of the moon in the background and the landscape @justclickindiva 🤗.
Nice to meet you Vanessa. That was the name of my sister, who passed a couple years ago. Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and leave your lovely compliment for my project. I appreciate it. Yes, the moon lights up the background so that I could use dark images in the foreground. I loved its affect on the entire scene.
Take care and have a good start to your week.
Even though the title says Swamp of Shadows, it honestly gave me a feeling of inner peace, I don't know if it was the moon or the form of the pensive woman.
I like it, of course my interpretation is not with the title, but as you say everyone can interpret it as they want.
