RE: Hive Governance vs Steem Governance

in Hive Governance5 years ago

I hear this criticisms of economic systems all the time.

"Those with all the money make the rules!”

This is true. Do you have a better suggestion? If so, what is it?

Read Nassim Taleb’s book Skin in the Game to understand why every system that doesn’t reward those with skin in the game and give them influence over future outcomes ultimately fails. Every time.

It’s very easy to critique, but much more difficult to provide actual solutions which have been proven to work. If you’re suggesting all the value of Hive should be gambled on a untested idea, good luck finding support for that. Some people, like me, made significant investments into HIVE (~9 BTC back when it was still called STEEM and trading around $2 and $3 before crashing to $0.07). I have skin in the game. It’s part of the reason I’ve been around here for almost four years. Do you think anyone and everyone should have the same influence over governance regardless of their investment? If so, how do you propose actually coding that into a blockchain consensus rule set which will be more robust than what we have now?

I’d like to see Hive be more about solutions than complaints. It’s way to get support when pointing out things could be better. It’s much, much more difficult to get support for a solution.
