Regrettable decision

Greetings!

Although we are often admonished not to dwell on regret, letting the past remain in the past and focusing on the present and the future, sometimes we still reflect on negative events from the past, and this usually ignites a sense of regret. Yes, that's life for us; we all experience it. However, what makes the difference is how we individually handle such memories and regrets when they resurface. I have done many things in the past that sometimes make me wish I could travel back in time to make wrongs right. But, come on, those wrongs were part of life, because life can't be rosy all the time.

In 2022, I was managing a laundry business for a relative (we weren't related by blood, though). I was fully in charge of the business, where I remitted money at the end of the month after covering various expenses. Although the business wasn't booming as it should have been, it was manageable and, at least to some extent, put food on our tables. However, along the line, he(the relative ) got a big job offer to manage a food business for one of his relatives. The business promised to be a major one, as it was a standard and classic eatery.

Then, he came to me with the idea of shutting down the laundry business so I could join him in managing the food company because he needed someone he trusted to handle the financial aspect of it. I didn't like the idea. It had taken a lot of time and resources to set up the laundry business, and even though it wasn't booming, shutting down a running business just because he needed to concentrate on his new venture seemed unwise to me. I know it's sensible to move from a less productive business to a more promising one, but in this case, the laundry business was manageable and needed time to gain more ground. I talked and talked, but no, he didn’t give in. He succeeded in shutting down the laundry business and had me employed in the food business to manage the finances.

I wish I could travel back in time and stand my ground because, at the time, I was fully dependent on him. Although he meant well for me, as he saw the laundry business as not being lucrative enough and thought that working in the food company would give me higher earnings, the reality was different. The salary was very low, and I was earning more through my blogging than what I was getting from the food company.

As fate would have it, the food business crumbled after a year of operation, leaving nothing to fall back on. He had other businesses at the time, but he had stopped everything to focus fully on the new job. When it collapsed, he was left empty-handed. I felt deeply for him, and each time we talked, he was filled with regret over why he had put all his eggs in one basket. As for me, I only paused for a while before bouncing back into my own business.

Sometimes this happens, but it's not too bad because you can't learn until you're caught somewhere, so even if some time is wasted, you'll learn a lot of mistakes that you can avoid making in your own business in the future.

Exactly!
That's a big lesson to me.
I can't be found making such decision again in my life.
Thank you for stopping by

Ahhhh, no nah.
You don't leave all your businesses for a particular one.

Inside spray your wings and manage them all.

Well, that's a lesson life always teaches us.

A big lesson to us and most importantly to me because I can never be found making such decision in my life

For your mind 😂😂😂😂
