Cuando subí a mi habitación que está en la planta alta me dí cuenta que se estaba filtrando el agua por la losa del techo en varios sitios y me imaginé que el manto asfáltico estaba roto, porque no eran gotas sino chorros los que estaban cayendo del techo.

Al día siguiente me subí a la azotea a revisar el techo y me dí cuenta del mal estado en que se encuentra la impermeabilización. La superficie del manto asfáltico está completamente agrietada y reseca. Ya perdió la adherencia y en varias partes se observan orificios por donde se ha estado filtrando el agua. La solución es sacar todo el manto viejo y sustituirla por una nueva capa de manto y pintura impermeabilizante.

When I went upstairs to my room, which is on the top floor, I noticed that water was leaking through the roof slab in several places and I imagined that the asphalt mantle was broken, because it was not drops but jets that were falling from the roof.
The next day I went up to the roof to check the roof and noticed the poor condition of the waterproofing. The surface of the asphalt mantle is completely cracked and dried out. It has lost its adherence and in several places there are holes through which water has been leaking. The solution is to remove all the old mantle and replace it with a new layer of mantle and waterproofing paint.

Haciendo los cálculos, un rollo de manto cubre 9 metros cuadrados, si tengo 30 metros cuadrados, necesitaría cuatro rollos de manto asfáltico, tres galones de primer asfáltico y tres galones de pintura asfáltica mantoflex. Esto aproximadamente sumaría 350 dólares sin la mano de obra.

Otra opción que me dieron fue la de conseguir pedazos de manto usado y quemarlo en las zonas dañadas para sellar las goteras y después, cuando haya recursos, se impermeabiliza todo con manto nuevo.
