Last week we finally had enough time at home to devote to deep cleaning and decorating our homes. My decorations are almost the same as last year's, but every year I like to give everything a new touch, so this year I improvised a couple of decorations, thanks to some scraps of fabric I found lying around, forgotten at the back of the closet, which someone gave me once, precisely because they know I like crafts 😃
La semana pasada finalmente tuvimos tiempo suficiente en casa para dedicarlo a la limpieza profundad y la decoración de nuestros hogar. Mis decoraciones son casi las mismas del año pasado, pero cada año me gusta darle un toque nuevo a todo, así que este año improvisé un par de decoraciones, gracias a unos retazos de tela que conseguí por ahí, olvidados en el fondo del armario y que en una ocasión alguien me regaló, precisamente porque sabe que me gustan las manualidades 😃
The Christmas tree is the same as every year, except that I add some new decorative elements such as bows, flowers, or some dolls that I made myself. This year, for example, I didn't want to put a star or a big bow on top of the tree, as I have done in other years. Instead, I wanted to put a Santa Claus that I made earlier, but before that, the first thing I did was wash each of the tree's branches (since it can obviously be taken apart). I like to wash it because even though it is stored very well in bags and boxes, I feel like it can accumulate dirt, so I soak it in water with a little detergent, then rinse each piece, and finally put them out to dry in the sun. Then I assemble the tree, put up the lights (I like to put up a lot 😍), and finally the decorations.
El árbol de navidad es el mismo de todos los años, solo que le voy añadiendo algunos elementos decorativos nuevos como lazos, flores o algunos muñecos que yo misma elaboré. Este año por ejemplo, no quise poner una estrella o un gran moño en la cúspide del pino, como he hecho en otros años, para esta ocasión quise poner un Santa Claus que hice previamente, pero antes de todo eso lo primero que hice fue lavar cada una de las ramas del árbol (ya que obviamente es desarmable) me gusta lavarlo porque a pesar de que está muy bien guardado en bolsas y cajas, siento que puede acumular suciedad, así que lo sumerjo en agua con un poco de detergente, luego enjuago cada pieza y por último las pongo a secar al sol, después armo el árbol, después voy colocando las luces (Me gusta ponerle muchas 😍) Y por último las decoraciones.

Así se ve por las noches cuando lo enciendo, me gusta que tenga muchas luces porque de esta manera se ve con más vida, más colorido y alegre.
I made these two snowmen myself (I really enjoy watching various tutorials online and then practicing on my own), then I put magnets on the back and stuck them on the refrigerator. I love having decorations everywhere.
Estos dos muñecos de nieve los hice yo (me gusta mucho ver varios tutoriales en internet y luego practicar por mi cuenta), luego les puse imanes en la parte de atrás y los pegué en la nevera. Amo tener decoraciones por todas partes.
That Santa Claus has a funny story 😄 My daughters laugh because sometimes I pick up something I see on the street that I can later use for a craft project. Once, I was walking down the street and found a toy bear (it looked like it was battery-operated, but since it no longer worked, someone had thrown it away), so I picked it up and took it home while I thought about what to do with it. Another day, I went out and bought some materials, such as a Styrofoam ball, which I used to make the head. I made the rest with scraps of fabric, and that's how this Santa Claus, or San Nicolás, as we like to call him in my country, Venezuela, was born.
Ese Santa Claus tiene una historia graciosa 😄 Mis hijas se ríen porque algunas veces yo recojo algo que veo en la calle y que posteriormente me puede servir para alguna manualidad. En una ocasión yo iba caminando por la calle y conseguí un oso de juguete (parece que funcionaba con baterías, pero al ver que ya no funcionaba más lo tiraron) entonces yo lo recogí y lo llevé a casa mientras pensaba que iba a hacer con él. Otro día fui comprado algunos materiales como una bola de anime (Telgopor o polietileno) con eso formé la cabeza, lo demás lo hice con retazos de tela, y así nació este Santa Claus, o San Nicolás, como nos gusta llamarlo en mi país, Venezuela.
I also had to remodel this decoration because the base used to be ceramic, as were the snowmen, the tree, and the fence in the background. But one day, while my husband was moving some boxes around to look for something, he did so very roughly and broke the base of this decoration (you know how men are 😡), so I had no choice but to improvise. In this case, I molded a piece of polyethylene to give it the same shape as the base had before, and I added some details with artificial snow. What I like most about this ornament is that it was a gift from one of my sisters, so it has great sentimental value for me. It's also a pretty little lamp (I put the entire electrical system under the base, but it's very simple because it's just a light bulb that goes under the tree).
Esta decoración también tuve que reformarla, porque antes la base era de cerámica, al igual que los muñecos de nieve, el árbol y la verja de atrás, pero un día, mientras mi esposo movía algunas cajas para buscar algo, lo hizo con mucha brusquedad y quebró la base de esta decoración (ya ustedes saben como son los hombres 😡) así que no me quedó más remedio que ingeniármelas. En este caso fui moldeando un pedazo de polietileno para darle la forma que antes tenía la base, y le hice algunos detalles con nieve artificial. Lo que más me gusta de este adorno es que fue un regalo de una de mis hermanas, así que tiene un valor muy importante para mi, además es también una linda lamparita (todo el sistema eléctrico se lo puse bajo la base, pero es muy sencillo porque solo se trata de un bombillo que va debajo del árbol).
This tablecloth is new; I made it a few days ago. I liked it because the fabric has a very Christmassy pattern, so it was the perfect touch.
Este mantel es nuevo, lo hice hace algunos días, me gustó porque la tela tiene un estampado muy navideño, así que era el toque perfecto.
I also made this decoration recently to give that arch a little more life and color; I didn't want to leave it undecorated. I made it by improvising, using scraps of fabric and recycling necklaces that I no longer wore. Below, I'll leave the link in case you want to know how the process went.
Este adorno también lo hice recientemente para darle un poco más de vida y vistosidad a ese arco, no quería dejarlo sin decorar. Lo hice improvisando, usando retazos de tela y reciclando collares que yo ya no usaba. Por aquí abajo les voy a dejar el link por si quieren conocer como fue el proceso.
And my husband also decided to put up the Christmas reindeer to decorate outside. We also have a shooting star, but I don't know if he'll put it up this year, because installing that one is a little more complicated.
Y mi esposo también se animó a instalar el reno navideño para adornar afuera, también tenemos una estrella fugaz pero no sé si él la vaya a instalar este año, porque la instalación de esa es un poco más complicada 😄

It's always a pleasure for me to decorate my home. I don't spend a lot of money on it because, as you can see, I've made many of the things myself. All you need is inspiration, willingness, and time. I'm very excited about Christmas. It brings back childhood memories, and perhaps it's also something I inherited from my mother, who loved to see her house decorated at this time of year. Para mi siempre es un placer decorar mi hogar, no gasto mucho dinero en eso, porque como pueden ver, muchas de las cosas las he hecho yo misma, para eso solo es necesario, inspiración, disposición y tiempo. Me entusiasma mucho la navidad, me tare recuerdos de infancia, y también quizá fue algo que heredé de mi mamá, a quién le gustaba mucho ver su casa adornada en estas fechas. Bueno, me alegra haber podido compartir esto con todos ustedes, me despido hasta una próxima ocasión con besos y abrazos virtuales.
