Party theme: Hollywood
The holiday season brings out something magical in itself, deeply infused with a sense of joy, celebration, and togetherness. SRNHS's Grade 10 Newton class best expressed this festive spirit through its Christmas party this year. From the opening prayer at the very start to final farewells, the event was so neatly executed and carried out to create unforgettable memories for everyone present in the gathering. Here's an account of the happenings of this special day.
Blessed Beginning: Opening Prayer
The program opened with a prayer to set the ambiance into gratefulness and respect. All the students were seated in a circle when the room became silent, after one of their co-students asked everyone to bend their heads for a minute in silence and reflection. This truly was not an opening prayer in formality, but it had a lot of true Christmas essence. It emphasized unity, peace, and goodwill and gave a sense of purpose for the activities to be conducted within that day and bonding the community together.
Let the Fun Begin: Morning Games
The morning games lasted from 8:30 am to 9:25 am. The opening prayer launched the spirits, and then came these fun-filled morning games. In simple words, it was a room full of students all participating eagerly in different fun activities. All of the games had been nicely selected so as to involve everyone in fun, be it people's interest or different capabilities.
Games like sack races and musical chairs got the juices flowing, while others—like a Christmas trivia quiz—pitted wits against theirs. The students laughed throughout the room, cheering each other on and setting that sense of jovial camaraderie. They provided something not only as an icebreaker but also as one to help start building connections for setting a lively atmosphere for the rest of the day.
Secret Surprises: Manito/Manita Gift Exchange
This had to be the most anticipated moment of the party: the Manito/Manita gift exchange. For weeks leading up to this day, students had drawn names in secret and were supposed to have prepared a thoughtful present for the assigned Manito or Manita. Of course, all this was very exciting: each student revealing his identity with a gift to present.
More than an exchange of presents, the tradition of anonymous gift-giving was all about the cheer of giving and receiving and the warmth from feeling appreciated when someone thinks of you. It made students show appreciation and surprise, which paved the way for lots of smiles and very touching moments in the room. This Manito/Manita exchange has tightened links between classmates and forged closer ties with one another.
A Festive Feast: Lunchtime
At noon, the festival lunched amidst festivity. The tables were filled with all kinds of food items placed by the students ; many tastes and traditions blended. From savory favorites like roasted chicken and pasta to sweet treats like cakes and cookies, everything was available for every taste.
As much as sharing a meal has been one of the time-tested ways of fostering bonds, so did it turn out to be in this noontime meal. The sense of community was felt even more as students sat together, partly passing plates around while sharing stories. Although the food was great, it was the sharing that made the meal extra special. It was time to raise smiles, converse, and make lifelong memories.
More Fun and Games: Afternoon Activities
It was after lunch that more games began, this time with increased energy. The activities now had elements that made them more cooperative than competitive. In the afternoon activities, there were relay races, group charades, and a Christmas carol sing-off, all of which needed the students to work and support each other.
Competitive spirits balanced a feeling of cheer and goodwill. Students stood not part of the game at any particular time cheered and encouraged their classmates. This atmosphere was electric, filled with glee and happy voices, all enjoying themselves. Games like these increase bonds of friendship and teamwork in more ways than one.
A Peaceful Ending: Departure
With the day finally coming to an end, everybody needed to unwind and have a flashback of what great times they had shared. The students assisted in tidying up the room, leaving it just like they found it. Clean-up was very smooth and orderly, a question of respect and responsibility reflected in the Grade 10 Newton class.
It was with full hearts and elated spirits that the students bade farewell to one another. Hugs, handshakes, and promises to get in touch during holidays characterized the mode of leave-taking. The party had united them all, so their peaceful heading home was coupled with the exact feelings that this celebration held for them. It was just the right ending to a very beautiful day, and it left everyone feeling content and happy.
Reflections on a Wonderful Day
