Bestfriend today, tomorrow and always

Hola ladies and gentlemen, it’s me again Gwyn and let me share with you a story of friendship that was unexpected. A friendship that will make you risk everything just to keep it. Friendship that provides you a safe place that no one can judge you as long as you're with them. The one who always supports you whether you're celebrating your success or on your downfall, and the one that can lend you a shoulder when things get tough.

When I was young I thought it was necessary to have many friends because the more the happier, not until someone came into my life and change my perspective. Besides my family, there’s this someone who makes life more bearable and easy to handle.

They say that the student's high school years are the best time of their lives, and I do agree since there are so many new opportunities, people to meet, environment to explore, and also challenges to get through.

Since elementary days till my first year of high school, I have actually been an introvert; I don't want to socialize with many people, but I do want lots of friends. It’s funny, right? I honestly do have friends, but I don’t have the courage to open up to them about myself or my life but thankfully, I still make it through my first year of high school.

As eighth grade approaches, a transfer student catches my attention. An idea immediately came up to my mind that I'd like to be her friend. So what I did is spoke to her, but she still ignores me. She is the reason I became extrovert because I desperately want to get to know her, so I did everything that I can to get her attention. She’s a bit grumpy that time and I know she gets easily agitated when I'm around. I truly never imagined that we would become friends up until this moment.

Who would have thought that our friendship and closeness would turn into something unexplanable? I'm genuinely surprised by how seamlessly everything worked out between the two of us. She became more than merely a friend to me; she was like a family. We may not be sisters by blood but she is my sister by heart and she consider my parents as her parents and I do exactly the same because it’s not really a big deal to us.

For almost seven years of friendship, we already shared a lot, from our bizarre stories and thoughts, our epic moments, heartbreaks, insecurities, dreams and all those little meltdowns we’ve experienced. I'm very thankful because she were always there to listen when I feel like I shouldn't be heard. When I felt like the world was against me, she was always there. She was always there to cheer me up at my darkest moments, to encourage me, and to serve as a constant reminder that tomorrow things will be a lot more better and brighter. Because of her, nothing in this life is actually frightening.

We may fought a lot of times in the past but we fix it because we wanted our friendship to last. This days we become more busy about our personal lives we just talk once in a while, see each other once a month or sometimes not because we also know that we have different responsibilities but we're now matured enough to realize that maintaining our connection doesn't require daily communication or seeing each other. What matters is that we are aware that we got each other's back.

She is a friend that I can always count on to be there for me and I shall spare no effort to return her kindness not just to me but as well as to my family. Despite all the challenges that was going on in my life she is still there. As I said we already have many shared memories, and they will all remain in my heart and mind forever. They say that true friends are hard to find, that is why I will forever be grateful that I was able to find her.

As stated by Matshona Dhliwayo, “One friend in a storm is worth more than a thousand friends in sunshine.”

This saying implies that having one supportive friend during challenging circumstances is more important than having a thousand friends during moments of happiness because in times of hardship, only your true friend will still be there by your side.
