🦉 The Baikal bullfinch (Pyrrhula pyrrhula cineracea), also known as the grey bullfinch, grey-headed bullfinch or great bullfinch
- Pyrrhula pyrrhos (Greek) red
- cineracea lat.: cineris ash, cinereus, cineraceus ash gray
I meet this species of bullfinch very rarely, they do not live in my region, but fly only in winter, and exclusively to forests, you will not see them in the city. Their voice is the same as that of the common bullfinch, it is a quiet melodic whistle.
Sexual dimorphism is expressed. The male is completely gray, but the females have a brownish tint and are very similar to the females of the common bullfinch.
What surprised me most was that they allow you to come close to them, unlike common bullfinches, which fly away as soon as they realize that you are coming to them.
