🦉 The Siberian stonechat or Asian stonechat (Saxicola maurus)
- Saxicola (lat ): saxum rock, stone, -cola inhabitant
- maurus (lat.): Moorish, black
In spring, in the meadows and clearings on the outskirts of my city, you can see how these birds are preparing for nesting. The male sits on the top of a plant, flying from one to another, he monitors the situation in his territory, and notifies the female of the presence of danger. And the female, meanwhile, builds a nest. She collects various soft materials and makes a nest and bedding from it.
Around mid-July in those places you can see young ones who copy the behavior of their parents, they also sit on the top of some plant and look around the area, and wait for their parents with food.
