The syndicate wars...
Is a most cyberpunk games that will put you in a role of someone outside of the manipulative, corporate system.it is one of those games that deserves the accolade ahead of its time because it offers someone entirely .destructive sandboxes and so many ways to tackle mission.
Yeah. After Syndicate in 1993, I didn't follow the add ons much, but this one sounds cool too.
I really enjoy anything from the Shadowrun franchise...tabletop game, video games and novels. The cyberpunk elements of the universe always appealed to me!
Neuromancer by William Gibson. Gibson started writing the book during filming of Blade Runner, which was released before his book hit the shelves, having an adverse affect. However, the book did and has become a cult classic for cyberpunk fans. If you like the genre, Gibson is required reading.
From a game perspective, one of the most fascinating IMO, was Syndicate. Released in 1993 by Electronic Arts and Bullfrog Productions, this game kept me at the computer for hours and was the reason I failed organic chemistry. I wish someone would come out with a modern release: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syndicate_(1993_video_game)
100%,Neuromancer is a must !
I enjoyed blade runner
Original or new one or both? The movie was good, but the book was kind of weird (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep). The movie definitely diverged from the book quite a bit. I think it was an inspiration for the movie more than an outline.
I Relly love Fallout: New Vegas one of the first games I beat as a teen
I am a Fall out addict since Fallout 3 (2008). I also like the building aspects of Fallout 4. You can keep building up villages forever and never finish the game.
My favourite movie in a cyberpunk universe would be blade runner, I don't know if that counts but I can remember watching it when I was little and being in awe of how amazing it was.
The second would be probably the matrix.
Yes, I love blade runner, even this post image is a scene from the director's cut version :) also the new Blade Runner 2049 movie is pretty awesome. Thanks for the submission!
I enjoyed the new one but my heart is still owned by the original.
The original Blade Runner is a must. It really provokes a lot of thought around class-based societies of the future and how humanity will treat itself. It's more of a study in the human soul. What is it's origin, how is it defined, etc. Ex Machina played on those same emotions in me. How do we define sentience, and what right do we have to say what that is even if we "created" it? Ethics. If you want to go deep on Blade Runner philosophy start by reading the wiki. It's pretty mind bending.
Even at a young age, it got me intrigued and played with my mind.
Thank you for the wiki recommendation, I would totally check it out.
It's nice and great post from you friend always on point, keep it up
THanks for your commmet, please note that to participate in the giveaway you need to recommmend some cyberpunk related movie/game/book here :)
Altered Carbon 😎

Does Shadowrun count. I love that game. tabletop rpg set in the future. Its got a lot of cool art and interesting concepts. Come to think of it Rift is a pretty good example as well. Both very cool worlds as far as tabletops go.

Amazing Books, extremely well written. I think back to it often actually with all this metaverse talk always! Hard to imagine the future isn't going towards the way of all our CyberPunk books portray!
The Movie for Ready Player One actually hit it out of the ball park too, have to give them credit where credit is due! A great well recommended watch for anyone reading this who perhaps is in the mood for some Cyberpunk movies!
Don't know that, need to have a deeper look. Thanks!
Cyberpunk 2077 received a lot of well deserved critics, but I liked it a lot, the story and setting are really well done and immersive (minus the non-existent difference between initial paths)
Playing the first version released with a mindset of "the bugs happening are a malfunction in your brain chip" was a unique and so fun experience that would hardly be capable of being reproduced again. It made me glad I pre-ordered it XD
It's a good/great game and a sad reminder of the incredible masterpiece it could have become without the execs middling and hushing things
I am still waiting for the next-gen version to play that, but I heard that lore and concept is masterpiece. So definitely I will play the next-gen version :)
Freelancer
It is an OLD PC game and really was the very first in the world of Star Citizen, Eve Online, No Mans Sky, etc.
It started my interest in the whole space entrepreneur genre. From there the world of sci-fi gaming expanded for me to include shooters, RPGs, and exploration.
The book The World of Cyberpunk 2077 by Marcin Batylda
Served well as an art book and also companion for history.
As an art book it has quite a lot of “companion book” as it talks about most of the themes of the game, the areas, the classes etc of which we won't only be able to admire the art, but to also helps us explore history.
Eve Online, I can't wait for something like that to hit the block chain. Blade Runner was a dang good movie.
Dark City (1998), Gattaca (1997) and Metropolis (1927) are the three cyberpunk movies that impacted me the most for sure.
Dark City was confusing and dark, but powerful and very gripping.
Gattaca was one I watched for school and was very surprised by it. It is a movie centered in the genetics discussion.
Metropolis is probably one of the first "cyberpunk" movies ever. Not the best Fritz Lang one, but a classical piece and a beautiful work.
If you are into anime, you will have your plate full with Ghost in Shell (1995), Akira (1988) and Kaiba (2008).
Great to see this post and how cyberpunk is such a gigantic topic. Got to learn a lot from you guys!
I am so unfamiliar with the CyberPunk Universe. Thank you for teaching me something new I am going to have to go through your old posts to learn more :-)
