Debut Appearance with a Record

In every sport and game, there would always be a winner and a loser. This is what ignites the spirit of sportsmanship among the competing teams. However, some wins are considered spectacular and some losses quite painful.

In the ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup, Zambia's women's national football team's exit looks quite interesting with the duplication of scores in their first and second leg of the group stage matches.

The Zambian team known as Copper Queens have suffered two heavy defeats in their opening two matches. They were beaten 5-0 by Japan in their first game, and then lost 5-0 to Spain on Wednesday. An epic concession of 10 goals without scoring any in the first two matches makes one wonder what the next match would look like.

Spain's win qualified them to join Japan in the last 16, while Zambia and Costa Rica will play their final group game against each other as a dead rubber. The two teams have nothing to loose are sure of losing out whether with a win, draw or loss.

Conceding 10 goals so far in the FIFA Women's tournament does not negate the fact that the Copper Queens of Zambia have given their best in the high profile soccer competition

The Zambian goalkeeper, Eunice Sakala, made some crucial saves during the match against Spain and the team had created a few chances of their own, only that the Spanish side were more skilled and advanced in soccer.

The Zambia's coach, Bruce Mwape, is hopeful that his can finish their World Cup campaign on a positive note against Costa Rica. We hope the Copper Queens can secure at least a goal or at least a win or draw so it won't be a flawless romp against them in the 2023 soccer competition.

July 31 is just four days away and the Zambia's women team would be taking on Costa Rica in their last appearance in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

What would the Zambian team tell their country that they conceded a decade goals in their first ever appearance in their debut world cup by senior women's team? It's been an epic outing for them and hopefully would help them prepare better for future opportunities.

It is however on record that Zambia's women's national team is the first women's team to concede as much as ten goals in a single world cup appearance which happens to be their debut appearance.
