Well Hello There Horsepower Lovers!!
They Got Scammed.
Real bad as well!
So the client brought this in and as the story goes another shop already replaced the pump gear because that broke. While they were at it they also swapped out the solenoids with new ones and did a oil replacement and a new filter.
Hmmm I can tell you now this is not the case! NOT THE CASE!
We were only supposed to fix the torque converter and that was supposedly that!
Let's see!
A Few Concerning Things!
Well they really messed up this vehicle badly!
The link is broken, without a doubt it will climb off within the first test drive of the vehicle and it might leave them stranded or in a very bad situation.
What if the client decided to drive and they engaged the drive gear and this thing climbs off and they can't get the vehicle out of drive!
It can end badly!
Along with that they removed the oil sump pan and added silicone sealer to a very much re-usable gasket! Hectic!
I absolutely despise seeing this!
An Oh Shit Moment!
You know what the funny thing is ey, it's that if we tell the client this and even show them this they will still not believe this at all!
They never do, we always talk shit and lie... or so they think. I mean this is bad! Real bad!
What did they do again? An oil change with some new solenoids? Yeah sure buddy!
And this? This doesn't look new at all, okay I didn't get a picture of the inside! But the filter is all mangled up!
The funny thing is that Bossman knew this was going to be the case and he didn't want to even take in the vehicle!
Fucking Ironic right!
Wrong Oil Aswell!
Most people think that these 10r80's consume the same oil as the 6r80 and this is not the case. I bet they messed this one up even further! I mean why is there so much contamination inside the oil?
Can you see those grey flows through the red oil? That's stuff that burned! For sure clutches!
Hammer It In!
Okay this might be hard to see but if you zoom in on the picture you'll see that the ring has a spot standing out, this is where the torque converter hooks into!
Now if you check just infront of my index finger there is this mark on the spot, it appears that it was sort of hammered in, must have been hammered hard as well!
Why would people take their high end vehicle to a back yard shop? Just why?
A Little Admiration!
I'm actually thankfull for being able to work on these transmissions long before any other people would even consider touching!
Seriously, this is a nice piece of engineering if you ask me!
It's a weird thing to admire steel, it's not something that everyone can do but it's something that we tech heads absolutely love!
See this drum I have my hand placed on? Well that is basically the entire transmission of your pickup, quite small ey!
The oil pump set up, they sure did do a whole lot of different stuff on this one! Certainly not the same as the 6r80's! Not at all!
This thing is absolutely chunky!
They did however swap out the old connector plate with wires, I think the wires is a much better option, the reason I say this is because if a sensor decides to give in you can have just that sensor replaced.
A nice business to be in! A very nice one!
