Este hermoso edificio, conocido también como la Casa de los Gobernadores, fue construido por órdenes del General Manuel Centurión en 1766 para que funcionara una escuela de latín y primeras letra. Además, sirvió de residencia para los gobernadores de la provincia. El 15 de febrero de 1817 su salón principal fue testigo de la instalación del Congreso de Angostura.
