The Daily Meme #831!

So it it just me, or is it harder to hold a higher mana level now?

I've had to lower my votes to stay above 80%.
I never had to do that before.
Before the fork I often gave 100% votes, but now that crushes my mana way too fast for me to continue doing it.

Why would votes suddenly not go as far as they did before the fork?
The chain will tell us, IF we care to look.

Vote marky's proposal, dear reader, he is exposing chain statistics that have long needed exposing, imo.

Take the chapter 9 challenge?

Simply debunk the math.

Well now there's no need to stay above 80%, your vote will always be the same being 10 or 80% of mana, I'm constantly under 10% now, before fork I was at 20%

There will be far fewer votes.

It's sure looking like it,...

I will see its reflection in seven days.

Low or high vote mana doesn't really matter now, which I think is an overall improvement, honestly.

The numbers will make themselves evident over the next few weeks.
I already don't like it because I have to vote less at lower powers.

HIVE automatically turning your 100% vote into a 50% vote because your vote power is reduced is functionally the same as us doing it manually - and with most front-ends supporting default vote values, it's I think pretty simple to just set your vote to something like 70% so you can still vote plenty.

And really, it doesn't change the amount of inflation via votes, it at most might limit the pool of folks receiving it. That's hopefully not going to be the case but we'll see I guess.

Why would I want to do something manually when it was automatic?

Yea I legit love HIVE analytics.

More people should check it out in my opinion.

I'm afraid the grind is getting to him, he says he may not be around as much.
For sure if his proposal fails to fund.

Who knows? 🤷‍♂️

The proposal not being funded is just weird though.

Out of everything else we pay for, I don't understand the case for not funding Hive Analytics.

It's typical of tptb, they gave aggie the back of their hands when he got here, too.
That is why splinterlands doesn't use hbd.

It's really quite pathological at this point, imo.

Maybe it's not intentional 🤷‍♂

Stake based systems are very interesting because there are a lot of people with different interests so getting the majority aligned on anything will be challenging.

Yes, and when potentially billions of dollars are on the line, you can't trust just anybody.
I get that, but I can also recognize talent.
My perceptions of good intent may be questionable, but actions would speak louder than unfounded suspicions, imo.

We are in an age of invisible code, machine characters capable of execution that don't print and can only be seen in the binary.
But, being of the restivus, I think they shot the project in the foot, intentionally.
Could they have a good reason, yes.
Are they gonna publicly state it, doubtful.

Years ago I was told that when the layer one codebase was ready for mass adoption that smart contracts would be worked on.
We are getting those now, afaict.

The more money that is on the line, the more people you need to be able to trust.

It’s not possible for 1 person to manage a situation when there is that much money on the line. In my opinion anyways.

I think most things in life seem more coordinated than they are.

Maybe you are right. But I’m always more inclined to believe that usually stuff didn’t work out for a variety of reasons that we are not always privy to.
