@sunscape, the only way I have found my way out of the sugar trap is eating whole foods. I cook from scratch! When I make a sweet treat I know exactly how much sugar I am using. When I do use sugar I use organic cane sugar and sorghum molasses. I call my husband the cookie monster, he will do dishes for cookies! I do use flour and sugar all the time and it is so difficult not to eat the cookie dough.
I can make fruit crumbles that have very little sugar and alternative flour products. I like buckwheat and coconut flour!
Thanks for your input. I have always cooked from scratch my whole life and it is rare for me to use many processed products. I have been watching my sugar intake for quite awhile now. It has helped a lot but now I find myself dealing with meats and dairy. My body is showing me that it does not want them. Working on increasing our veggies and good fruits. Grains are hard as my husband loves pasta and rice. But we do keep that to a minimum. My husband buys his own sweets since I stopped baking for him.... lol I make him homemade applesauce and tell him that should take care of his sweet tooth. thanks for the info
