OPERATION SAVE A NEWBIE - A WEEK LONG CONTEST EVENT
COMMUNITY BUILDING CO-OP CONTEST
Ladies and gentlemen, Lucky here, or as you know me on SteemIt, @terminallyill. As the leader and one of the founding fathers of the Steemit Greeters Guild, today has been a very amazing day for not just me, but the guild, in terms of growth. Over the past two days talks have been going around that @greetersguild is finally launching a contest event which will be hosted in house. To suppress the rumors, yes, it is true and I am announcing this event right now for all of you to see first hand. After a few days of planning, me, @cryptkeeper17 and @davemccoy all finally constructed a fool proof way to enrich our communities by battling the Steemit Account Inactivity Crisis all while helping build new Steemians, preparing them for their journey on the platform. After taking to the "streets" of Steemit and educating people of this awesome event, I rounded up sponsors and supporters to give this event the proper start it needs. So here we are, the launch of a week long contest event that has had an incredible amount of work and support dumped into it compliments of a great deal of awesome people across the SteemIt platform. Read along and prepare yourselves to be blown away my friends.....
WHAT IS OPERATION SAVE A NEWBIE?
Operation Save A Newbie is a community contest event that is designed to guide new Steemit users and help them tap into their true potential, deterring them from leaving the platform and allowing their accounts to become "dead". The Steemit Greeters Guild has created a contest even based on the production and curation of quality content, that will utilize our key functions and give the community an opportunity to participate on numerous levels. Along with the fact we are reaching deep into the community to find these new promising members, we are also supporting and growing a life changing community initiative/program called @steembasicincome by awarding deserving contest winners with shares to the program. These sponsored prizes provide both the recipient and the sponsor of the prize an equal number of shares in the @steembasicincome program, promoting positive and consistent growth in the Steemit community. That is a complete WIN/WIN situation! Thanks to our many sponsors, donors and participants in preparing for this event, we are sure to hit the ground running at full speed!
To give a basic idea on how the contest will go......
The main phase and portion of the contest involves new SteemIt users with a reputation score of under 45, posting links to their latest articles on our contest post in the comments portion of the contest post. The community will be responsible for viewing and voting for the best articles, which will receive prizes accordingly. Members of our communities as well as current Steemit Greeters Guild members will also have the chance to go out and greet new SteemIt users, bringing them to the contest post, which then will accrue rewards for the greeter. The greeters can then prompt these new additions to join in on the curation trails of two SGG founders in order to receive even more rewards. Ideally, it would be nothing for a greeter to make 1 SBD in a day, or more, if they are truly up for the task. Not to mention, they themselves can enter the contest for a chance to win shares to Steem Basic Income. On top of all of these opportunities, there will be bounties places on this post to enhance curation rewards. Operation Save A Newbie is by definition a true community effort and initiative that will do many great things for the Steemit platform!
HOW CAN YOU JOIN IN ON OPERATION SAVE A NEWBIE?
Joining in on the contest is not only easy, but it is completely FREE aside from the time and effort that you put into it. One thing is guaranteed, if you work this contest, it will work for you 😉 There are in total three different aspects of the contest that each and every person is welcomed to join in on. You may feel free to participate in just one portion, or all three if you so choose. Some have a more direct reward for joining in, some are completely reliant on other factors. What I am getting at, is we have a little bit of something here for each person's individual taste, not to mention a sure shot way for new community members to rake in some guaranteed rewards! We also need each and every single person that is able, to come to this post on a daily basis and read the entries that are submitted as well as upvote the comment in which the entry was made if you feel it is deserving of your vote. The only way our contestants will have a chance to win is with the help of their fellow Steemit users!
THE MAIN EVENT AND HEADLINING PART OF THE CONTEST

This here is the main event of the contest and is the easiest portion to grasp and get on board with. Basically, we want all of you with a reputation score under 45 to post the link to your highest quality post that you have created in the past 24 hours right here in the comments portion of this contest post. Along with the link, tell us your name as well as how long you have been a registered Steemit user. Feel free to provide your thoughts and concerns in the comment as well, but MAKE SURE IT INCLUDES THE LINK TO THE BEST POST YOU HAVE DONE IN THE PAST 24 HOURS! Every single day you are able to comment the link to a new post just as long as it is withing 24 hours old at the time you enter it in our comments. Please note you can only enter once every day. Once you have posted, it is your duty and responsibility to seek out other people to come and read your work as well as the work of others included in this contest to receive upvotes on the comment. Make sure that you bring people to this post and have them read at the very least your contest entry for the sake of you having the opportunity to win. This contest is dependent on the community supporting it and everyone involved.

Every single day for the next seven days, the founders of the Steemit Greeters Guild will issue rewards and prizes for the participants of this contest as required. Every day we will select the three entries with the highest amount of upvotes and those entries will be the winners of at least 1 share from @steembasicincome. A single share from SBI is valued at 1 Steem and provides continuous upvotes to the holder, for life! That's not it. At the end of this contest event, we will also select the entry with the absolute highest amount of upvotes award the contestant with 5 shares to SBI!
Aside from the shares to SBI, there is plenty of opportunity to be made with upvotes on your comments as well as your original post from the supporting members of the community. There will also be a minimum of one steem bounty on this post, which issues rewards for the best curation. You would sincerely welcome them to the Steemit platform, offering them any assistance they may need in learning or growing. At this point you would then advise them of this contest even which was designed with them in mind, and encourage them to come here and participate in the main event. Each greeter is paid a reward for each new person they bring into the contest event as a participant, as well as rewarded for a few bonus actions from SGG themselves. Every greeter or referring person will be rewarded 0.05 SBD for each person who join ONE trail. If you have someone join both trails, that is a total of 0.10 SBD rewarded to you. We ask that you have your referred person let us know directly that they joined because of you so we can issue your rewards for the task you completed. Every single day we will also monitor the trails and greeters to issue a prize of 1 share to SBI for the most productive greeter in this event. Unlike the other portions of the contest, this portion does not carry a grand prize and instead offers more consistent bonuses to those who utilize what it offers. For every 10 new members to our curie trails (both trails) that you bring in, you will be awarded 1 share to SBI. The Pew Research Center analyzed data from US International Trade Commission and showed that Bangladesh exported $ 570 million worth of goods in the United States last year. Of these, 95 percent were clothing, footwear, headgear and related products. Bangladeshi businessmen have to pay duty on almost all of the Bangladeshi products imported by the United States. Pew Research has calculated that, in the United States, the country has to pay 15 percent 2 percent of the country's exports of $ 570 million, which is the highest among 232 countries.
Almost other countries in Qatar have to pay this amount of tax. Cambodia is entitled to 14.1 percent of the export price. On the other hand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Vietnam pay a total of 11.98 decimal and 7.2 percent of the total export figure respectively. And the country imposes a fine of 1.4 percent on the value of the amount imported from the whole world.
However, the United States imposes a relatively low tariff on other important business partners than China. For example, Mexico and Canada can say, this country is the second and third largest import source in the United States. However, the two countries have to pay zero-zero and zero-zero-zero-eight percent tariffs respectively on the export price last year. On the other hand, Japan and Germany are less than 2 percent of the export price. South Korea has a free trade agreement with the United States. The country has exported $ 7,550 million worth of goods in the United States, he has to pay only 0.25 percent duty.
The matter is that, if the United States imports commodities from any country, how much tax will be imposed on it depends on two issues. Firstly, the amount of taxable goods and secondly, on the tax that the United States imposes on him.
Generally, the tariff rate in the United States is less than two decades ago. It is now happening due to the increase in the number of items in the tariff discount list. @nwtdarren, my friend why would you react to such a contest and positive event in the community in such a negative manner? We all need to realize that this is not "spam", these are compassionate people that are concerned about your future, reaching out to you, and you are thanking them by spitting it back at them. I'm in a bit of a dilemma here. I'm producing content (probability calculations) for the sports betting community here on steemit. That kind of content is not for the general consumption, that is if you are not interested in sports betting it's pretty useless to you.

I have read the conversation, that started with @jan23com’s comment. I agree with @beeyou that the comment was an opinion. Maybe @jan23com could have used different wording to ‘soften’ his message a little, but I honestly don’t see no reason to flag him for his opinion.
But the seed had been planted.
@dynamicrypto, the day before yesterday I made a big mistake, making a post about the line in the FAQ that says asking for an upvote for a contest is considered to be abuse. After constructive comments from @valth and @yabapmatt I made changes to the post, to let people know thqt the FAQ are not the ‘official rules’. I’m sorry, @jan23com for confusing you. I am a little confused myself.
But I’m losing focus..
I started this comment to ask you, @dynamicrypto, to take away the flag. Flags shouldn’t be used to show disagreement. If you want the comment to go down in the list, why not upvote the other comments instead?
@terminallyill, everything has been blown out of proportion. I can understand why @jan23com is hesitant about other sites. I just spent 2 hours in the steemcleaners channel discussing the phishing problem that is getting out of hand. I just reported a phishing link to autosteem. People get suspicious... I read the post three times and was confused about autosteem or steemauto myself...
And I started the ‘upvote is abuse’ thing. I didn’t mean for it to become a big deal.
This is just an unfortunate chain of events that lead to a lot of bad feelings...

They are asking you to read other posts and if you like one to upvote. With being under 45 most of us don't really have a following and are not making very much money, if any. The best thing you can do is support the little guys with good content, not to throw your voting power away to one of the whales, because they will make hundreds and thousands with or without you. You upvote to a redfish especially means the world to them, that someone out there cares about what they are posting. This contest and group designed to contribute to the part of the community that needs the most help, gets overlooked and to keep from losing them. If these people don't get votes don't see that people appreciate a quality articles, then why waste their time? They may as well go back to Facebook at least someone talks to them them there.
This is what you get if you upvote the post for one.
Secondly, the upvote gets the thread moved up on trending so it can be seen and also as a way to give back to you. You're kind of missing the point. If you're wanting to do that, go through my follower list and see how many want me to follow and upvote, especially when they haven't even posted.
I have NEVER been asked for my key to any of the Discord groups I am in. 2 of which are Greeters Guild and Newbie Resteem Day. If you're giving out your key and can't tell what a phishing post is, I don't know what to tell you.
What theses guy are doing is trying to build up good quality posters, not allow the platform to cater to meme posters, copyright infringers and most of all plagiarists. Do the right thing and build up the little guys. You'll receive far greater rewards from being consistent with upvoting and commenting on them, than you will by trying to kiss butt to a whale.
And do remember no one has to agree with you and they have the right to flag you. Since you straight out refuse do do what the post is they're flagging is making sure you do not get any reward for you post on here. Which is legitimate.
Now, if you flag other people as a result of this. That is a totally different conversation.
Look at the bigger picture. If you don't understand ask them.
These guys are great. They're supportive and believe in what they are doing.

It got out of hand, that is all to be said about it. My apologies for coming off as brash to anyone involved. The fact is @jan23com, I care about the wellbeing and growth of my group and those coming up in the platform so heavily that it drove this to be something it did not need to be. @dynamiccrypto thank you for supporting us and for removing the flag so we can find a peaceful resolution for everyone involved. I have a deep admiration for the passion of you both, that is a fact.
@jan23com there was no abuse or anything intended with this post, it was merely a means to give back to the community and help others on their journey. I do understand your concerns and ask please, if there ever may be an issue in the future, to reach out to me or someone else personally beforehand so we can avoid situations such as this. In the long run, it's not about us, it is about those people out here who need outlets such as these to grow from.

@tryskele, I am not upset with you bro, there's no need to say any of that. In fact, I am happy that you did everything you did to explain the true meaning of the post and such. What blew the argument up was my personal responses to Jan, which I had to step back and reflect on. Me being in a leadership position, I have to be political regarding these things and cannot really keep the situation going in a negative manner. You were not wrong for anything, I'm just killing the argument and letting it die down so we can all focus on the important thing, which is the contest. It ended up drawing too much attention from the newbies who need the exposure by entering this event, which something I had to sit down and consider.
This got out of hand and was drawing a great deal of attention in the wrong ways, the things that caused the most ruckus were my responses, which I had to edit to keep things on a good note. So, trust me, there is no need to move along away from us or anything of the sort. I actually want you to be part of all of this and continue to support SGG ;) You displayed a great amount of loyalty AND appreciation for the initiatives I am in charge of, so please, stay here with us and help us continue to grow in great ways!
That ultimately was my goal. I didn't want to draw negative attention though. This is where I wish there were a way to switch to a private conversation besides discord. I am trying to work my way in to greeting. Sounds bad I'm beaten to it LOL Someone else from the group gets there before me. Which is awesome. I believe strongly in both groups. Hi @jan23com I see where your concerns lie. Since I run the cryptkeeper17 curie trail I am happy to address them, as long as do a lot of work on @greetersguild alongside my teammates in this project. First, the single upvote is meant for someone to have an ounce of skin in the project if they want to enter. Their upvote is going to make no one rich, in fact they very likely have voted like 20-50 times already, because that is pretty much what every newbie does eventually. Also I am getting them minnowbooster votes after reading their post, commenting on it, and verifying it isn't spam garbage. Everyone that has joined our curation trail has spent a lot of time with me and other friends like the newbieresteem team, the newbiegames team, and just about anyone else on here that we can use as an asset to gather them information they wish to know. We offer as much education of all things on here to the fullest of our abilities. The curation trail is offered so that they can get ongoing support in upvotes, and is frankly a way I and the others in the group can track their ongoing progress. I work with a lot of people on here, on a lot of different things, and admit I can get sidetracked, so that works well on all fronts. Plus with the current price of steem, the newbie that enters the curation trail also gets some very solid curation rewards, or is incentivized to keep their voting power up, or to build their steempower through purchasing steem or leasing via delegation. That and we haven't even mentioned the chance for them to participate in the steembasicincome program, that will get them yet a little higher floor voting start on each of their posts daily thanks to the multitude of mind blowing support this has already received. This is not an organization, but much more a group of people that are doing the same thing we have done on here since we started under one common banner. I thank you for your comment and would be curious if I missed any of your concerns with the project and/or contest.

As for the other group, many of the same members are also in our Newbie Resteem community. You don't have to be part of both communities. To be honest, I only have time for one community and that is #newbieresteemday. Although not a member of SGG, I still support what they do for newbies.
No requirement to join other communities on here. Find ones with like-minded individuals and stick with them BUT do be open that there are other communities out there that want to help others too. They may do so in a different fashion is all.
You should talk to cryptkeep17 on discord about my opinion of the greeters guild. It has not changed since I said it. and it may surprise you.
I too have talked to cryptkeep17 on discord. I also think he is a good guy. Really, I think it snowballed into a bigger issue than your comment initially intended. I think it's just how a comment is read and perceived imo.
@jan23.com @dynamicrypto @terminallyill... I am now just getting up to speed on all this drama... I don't like to hear that we had this confrontation. I have seen that several people get involved and weigh in and I will say this, I support everyone speaking their mind even if I don't agree with them. So I hope that we can have a civil disagreements and save our venom for the true bad guys on this system.
From what I can tell it looks like everyone has edited things. So I am assuming that all is ok. If not, then let me know and I will get involved. I will put everything I am trying to do on hold and deal with this.
Please let me know. I don't want anyone focused on the wrong things, so I will definitely help resolve, if necessary.

Very good concept and start my friend, but please take some collective advice from me on behalf of the @greetersguild to help you change some negative aspects against your reputation according to Steem Plus. I mean no harm and only mean to help you grow :) Which, you can reach out to me and the guild to help coach you and educate you.
Firstly, went into your blog, and some of the posts do not utilize "PROPER IMAGE SOURCING", which is citing where you have gotten your images from, to keep spam and plagiarism cut from the Steemit platform while giving credit to the creators of great content. If you need help learning proper image sourcing, @lynncoyle1 can help you with a post she has written which explains it rather well.
Secondly, I strongly urge you to study into "MARKDOWN STYLING" which will not only help you design and create content that looks great, but also in general makes your content significantly better in nearly all aspects, including attracting more followers and upvotes. If you need help with this @greetersguild will do our best to coach and mentor you towards being the most productive and professional Steemian that you can be!
Third, I read one of your posts where there was supposed to be a hyper link attached to a picture, which would direct a reader somewhere else if clicked. It would be awesome to style your posts to remedy this. Another thing I can personally teach you if you need help.

Afarzanaafroze I really enjoyed this post and was initially concerned as well as @bashadow was regarding the picture situation. For future reference, the easiest way to move past this is to use proper image sourcing, and for your own photos, tag them with your username to avoid confusion. If you do end up using someone else's work, the penalties can be incredibly severe, and none if us want that to be the case. We all want to see you grow. We are here to help you do just that :)
