Adam & Eve
In Genesis 3, it talks about how Adam and Eve were afraid of God so they hid because they were naked.
Jonah
In Jonah 1, he set out in the opposite direction to get away from the Lord.
The Disciples
In Matthew 26:56 all the disciples left Jesus when he was arrested and ran away.
Peter even denied knowing Jesus three times.
In all these cases people hid out of fear, but where could they hide? God is everywhere and knew exactly where they were and what they had done.
We cannot hide from God.
Paul in the Bible was the opposite, He wanted to kill everyone who knew Jesus. This was until Jesus met him and asked him why he was trying to persecute Him? Acts 9:3-5
We learn that God's way is the best way. He gives us a choice and if we go the opposite way we usually end off in a worse situation. We must just be grateful that He can help us get back on track. If we look at how Jonah was swallowed by a fish. Jonah had to first repent and he was then spat out, he told a city that God was going to destroy them. The people repented and God forgave them. If Jonah was stubborn and stayed in that fish, many including himself would have suffered.
Listening to and following God is the best way for ourselves and others.
