A Quick Trip Around Bodnant Gardens - North Wales

in #garden7 years ago
Bodnant Gardens in North Wales were given to the National Trust in 1949 by the 2nd Lord Aberconway (Henry McLaren) and are still owned and run by the Trust today. The hall shown in the following two pictures is still owned privately and is not open to the public.

I have already done a number of posts about this garden so I'll confine this post to those photos I haven't managed to include elsewhere

These two photos show an unusual oval pond.

Growing up the steps leading to the main terrace are two old twisted vines.

The view from the terrace is quite spectacular and overlooks the Conwy valley and the mountains of Snowdonia.

The gardens have interest all year round and have been voted the winner of "The National Trust Gardens Award" by National Trust members and visitors. They also were voted "The Favourite Garden in the Country" by Daily Telegraph readers.

If ever you get the chance, a visit to these gardens is highly recommended.

It would be amazing if they open it for the public visits if nothing else it could make a wonderful museum or an art gallery. The pond is in the great shape, but it looks like nobody is maintaining it.

Hello @bapin. The hall is still a private residence so I suppose you can't blame the residents for wanting their privacy :-) I think the gardeners would be leaving the pond for the wildlife at this time of year. When we went around the garden it was nearly the time when frogs etc start to breed. When the frogs have done their stuff I would imagine the pond would be maintained better. Thanks for the comment.

I don't know about the reward or anything, but a year ago I had a dream that took place in the environment exactly like that one. The resemblance is stunning. I even made a fiction story which is almost entirely situated in that place. Do you have any in-depth info about that place? I would really like to read something more about it.

I put some links below for further information.Hi @aschatria. That is really weird! Do you think you may have seen Bodnant Hall previously and forgotten about it only for it to resurface from your sub-conscious? Just a guess.

I hope they help. :-)

The Bodnant Gardens on your photos look like something from a movie, yes? The Daily Telegram didn't go wrong by pronouncing it the favorite garden in the country. Images you took are great.

Thank you @yourseldom for your comment. It was a beautiful day weather wise which helped with the photos. Love your profile picture by the way. :-)

Beautiful architecture like a fairy tale x

Thank you for your comment @nymia.aryn. It certainly is. It must be great to live in such a building. It would have to be well heated in the winter though!

You're welcome really lovely, yes otherwise we would freeze!
