Story

you play as a man called Mr. Black and you wake up in some sort of asylum where you have an apparatus called the Pandora strapped to your head. The game begins with you trying to rescue a girl that has been kidnapped. When you get to the girl you are teleported to the asylum when you are greeted by a mysterious voice called Mr. Red. Mr red tells you not to be afraid, because he is trying to help you remember who the girl is. Mr red explains that the Pandora lets you relive memories so that you can piece together what happened. as you move thru the asylum you will relive core memories in hopes of learning the truth.

The Story so far is really interesting and it has me very hooked. I cant wait to jump back in to find out what is going on. Since you are reliving memories everything is distorted and the world is almost dream like. when your going thru levels, you can change the world by interacting with glitches. Every thing about the game is very mysterious. The game raises many questions Like what happened to you, who is mr red, why are you in the asylum with a bunch of other psychopaths, and who is the girl...One other major aspect of the story that is really interesting is that very early on Mr red tell you that your actions have consequences and that you should think about what you do. Many games try to implement systems like this but few get it right and so far actions in the game have real consequences that hit you when they happen.

Gameplay

The game is part FPS, part walking simulator, and part puzzle game. in the asylum you will explore and look around to move forward and get to the next memory. The asylum is full of patients that you can interact with, and each action you do affects you and the patients. When your in the memories you have a a special gun called the corner gun, It allows you to look and shoot around corners. At first the gun seemed like a gimmick but it surprised me when I saw the interesting ways you could us it.

Your other main tool is your cell phone. It has an assortment of apps that will help you investigate the asylum and the dreams. The app is also key to solving puzzles. Some of the puzzles are actually fun to figure out and unique to the game. The puzzles are one major aspect of the game I am enjoying.

Music

The music in the game is fantastic! Its eerie and it builds at just the right times. The way sound design is used it perfect. At times it is used to make you feel uncomfortable.

Style

The game does not look amazing, but It has a nice strange style, especially in the asylum. Some of the character models dont look great, but I did not think that it took away from the game. So far the evocative visuals are fun to look as.

Closing Thoughts

I am really liking this game. the story has me so hooked and the gameplay has proven to be interesting. I want to see more of the crazy asylum and I cant wait to try and solve more puzzles. My one major concern right now is how the consequences will be handled. Mr red tells you not to kill so much because it will have consequences and I am worried that I will get some sort of bad ending from the number of kills I have racked up. The issue is that you really have to stealth to avoid killing and at times I personally dont want to stealth.
