I love @coingecko.
Their data is solid, their interface is clean, their social media is balanced. Great APIs...
I had the pleasure of meeting a couple of guys from CoinGecko at the last physical Fest in Thailand. They were friendly, informative, and awesome to hang out with.
Since then, Coin Gecko has been part of my daily life. At least once per day (okay, I'll be honest...many times per day) I pop open the app and look at the market. And each day, I get to click the candy jar, haha. In a creative gamification strategy, Coin Gecko awards users with a little bit of "candy" for using the app every day.
Almost all the rewards are 10% off this...or 15% off that...a subscription to this partner or a product from that partner. After a year of clicking the candy jar EVERY. SINGLE. DAY...I dreamed of waking up and finding something really cool in the Candy Redemption page.
Well...a couple of hours ago, Coin Gecko makes this Tweet:
Huh.
Well, I've checked out Gala Games in the past, particularly since the Splinterlands team has had a bit of collaboration with them. I really dig what they got going on, however I never really dove head first, primarily because the investment cost is so dang high. Mirandus looks cool as heck, but the entry to participate (at least in the land stuff) was a little too rich for my blood. Maybe if I had jumped into crypto a year earlier and bought a ton of ETH on the cheap it would have been a different story.
Regardless, I still like what they've got going on. Maybe I'll find a way to play one of their games at some point. Let's try to get more info on this mysterious NFT. Here's an entry from the Gala Games blog:
Ugh. A mystery NFT that has some playability? Hrm...So I thought to myself, "Yeah, let's do this. It's time to break open the Candy Jar!!!"
After accumulating candy for the past year, I had a little over 9,000 of the buggers.
This NFT thing was gonna cost me 6,000!!!
AHHHHhhhhhhhhh! That's like 5 months worth of clicking the app every day, haha! That's a lot of finger movement and precious seconds of my life I'll never get back. Bleh. Fine, fine...I'll do it!
There goes my candy. I've got 3,280 left. Hopefully some super awesome NFT that's even BETTER doesn't show up tomorrow.
I tapped on My Rewards and gazed upon what 5 months of tapping got me:
So there you go.
If you like gaming or you like NFTs or you like Coin Gecko or you like Gala Games...maybe it's worth your while to spend some candy.
I wonder if we should try something like this for Splinterlands? What do you think? Let me know if you think that would be a good idea! Of course, I need to save up more candy first, haha!
Did the same. I got tired of waiting for anything physical other than discounts and gala is growing nicely so this could be worth money in future.
